Please Help Controller Freezing on PC

I use my xbone controller on my pc sometimes and it works perfectly fine. i got COD Advanced warfare and it just will make the controller freeze up or only continuously allow 1 button to be pressed before it freezes. i have never had a problem like this and i have already re installed the drivers. i have no idea what else to do. please help

make sure you switch your control scheme in the settings of the game from keyboard+mouse to controller , plus attach the controller to your pc before running the game

i have done this multiple times before nothing seems to work
