Alright ill start off with what i have,

2080 super
i7-10700f
16gb ram
1tb ssd
850w psu.

Ive had this pc for a while and i just thought my graphics card was going out. i would get 20fps on games , put all settings to the lowest just to play. which i shouldnt have to do. Anyways, i cleaned it the other day reseated GPU blew all the dust out, took one 16gb stick of ram out to put in single channel. Then i put it back together, plugged it in and it ran better then it has in a year, I was able to put graphics to ultra on red dead 2 and get 70+ fps.

Today i was playing, all the sudden i blackscreened. turned the pc back on, and my core clock was stuck back at 300mhz and gpuz has my 8 pin power 1 connector at 0 voltage, which while i was getting 70fps i had voltage going thru it. My perf cap is also now pwr. which before while running well it was idle. The only thing i changed tonight was the bios setting for cpu to make it not run at max performance.

Please can someone point me in a direction. should i get a new gpu? i defintely have hope as ive been playing for 3 days amazing performance and all the sudden poof, its done. These are events from event viewer when it crashed:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device HID\VID_03F0&PID_0D8B&MI_03&Col02\8&3513abe8&0&0001

EDIT:
These also showed up at same time:

  • A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.
  • A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
  • The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.

Thank you.

Sounds like either a overheating or voltage issue.

Something has degraded over time, most probably the PSU.

cpu and gpu temp and usage during the game?
ram/ssd usage?
Temps are below 70c under load for both. Ram usage at 70%

the gpu doesn’t go above 75c but the psu is a off brand game max. Should I go buy a Corsair psu try that before I buy a new card?

Are you able to borrow another known working PSU for testing purposes?

Remember to use only the cables that come with the test PSU.

Before doing anything be sure to back up all important data at least 2 x to locations other than the problem computer. Ensure that the backups are recoverable and readable.

I’m not sadly. I don’t have access to another computer. Psus aren’t that expensive. I wouldn’t be mad if I grabbed a new one and that wasn’t the issue

If you go into whatever overclocking software that comes with your motherboard then you can do an overclocking test, but watch what happens to the voltages it tells you.

While you didn`t get a tier PSU it doesn`t mean its naff, although yes it might be that. Overclocking software will also tell you how much juice that GPU is getting.

UPDATE I used DDU on safe mode and for the past two days running well other then a hard freeze while gaming.
