I have a weird problem that I hope someone can pinpoint. I recently got Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle-earth 2 on PC from Amazon, and tried to install it yesterday. I'm running on a 64-bit Windows 7, by the way. The game has six discs, and goes through the installation up until I have to put disc 5 in. When I put disc 5 in, it gets to the last percentage, 83%, and gets stuck on the last few files and says "A problem occurred trying to transfer *insert file name* to the media. Retry or Cancel" If I hit retry after multiple fails, the file will eventually go to the next one, but then that file does the same thing.
Here's the funny part: the game installed perfectly fine on my little brother's Windows 8 PC, no problems whatsoever. On my Windows 7 PC I can't even copy the files from the disc to another folder, it gets stuck with 5 seconds left on the last few files (the ones that can't be read during installation). I've read that this can happen when the disc is defective, so I ordered ANOTHER copy off Amazon to see if the disc 5 in that will work. But why did it install on the Windows 8 computer? I installed other games perfectly fine, like LOTR: Return of the King and the old 2003 The Hobbit game without any problems. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!
