Morning all,

Please be patient with me. I am computer illiterate.I want to reinstall my
windows XP. The computer has not been working properly. I do have the
upgrade that was made available. So I put the disk in.

Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the CD.

Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is
currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be
recovered.

I dont have the option to continue, just cancel.
I wonder if it is because I downloaded the upgrade for xp? what do you
think? Is there a way I can go ahead and do it anyway?

Please offer some help.

Col,

Before doing a Repair/Install, there are other things that you should look
at. Adware and other malicious programs will cause you to blame the operating
system. If you don't have an adware removal program installed, I suggest
that you download and install Ad-Aware. http://www.lavasoftusa.com Before
you run the search the first time click on Check for Updates now... You'll be
surprised how many malware programs will be running on your computer.

If you continue with the Repair/Install backup your data to an external
device first.
