apparently you have no clue what you are talking about.

I am saying is the maximum frequency per core 3.5 or 4?

all of the websites and forums mention the 3.5 and don't get to the 4.

is it a type on intels website?

please let me know.

The max speed without manipulation is 4GHz. This assumes the PC in question has all settings the way they need to be. Speedstep enabled for one. That is not to imply that that is the maximum speed. Out of bounds this is. It can then be overclocked with the necessary skills.

Good idea to buy an aftermarket heatsink such as the Noctua NH-D14 or the Evo 212+ from Cooler Master or some other top rated CPU cooler.

Just to be clear the Cache has a max frequency of 3.5GHz. The CPU has a max frequency of 4GHz.

can you support me with a link that says 4 other than intel, coz it might be a mistake or typo..

thanks

so If I am using the computer in rendering using vray or cad or unity 3d, will the cores reach up to 4.0 by "themselves" or through program input.?

so what is the difference between the 3.5 and 4?

please let me know coz I am thinking to get the 6900k instead.

I don't want to regret my decision.

Yes they will.

3.5GHz is referring to the Cache frequency. Someone PLEASE refine this answer. Vaguely speaking you can think of your cache is SUPER INSANELY FAST RAM. But not literally. There are other things in your CPU that is not the core. there is well RAM on there and it has a frequency which in the case of that CPU maxes out @ 3.5GHz.

The CPU will auto-overclock to 4GHz.

please let me know coz I am thinking to get the 6900k instead.

I don't want to regret my decision.

If I was investing more than the cost of my entire rig in a CPU I would opt for the K feature because overclocking has become relatively simple.

read the link K1114 posted

Nope. I was wrong. read the toms review on 6950x

again, none of the answers is helpful, it is like you have a problem in comprehending my question.

please, I am about to waste 2300 Canadian dollars on a cpu that I don't know its specifications.

I read thru the link posted but it doesn't state if the max turbo is 4 for the 6950x. The link also stated that the max turbo has to be enabled or activated thru a program called intel boost max technology 3. so when I am doing rendering I should learn to use that program.

why cant I talk to a speciailist to address my concerns.

ANSWER ME FOLKS

I was wrong. I can't believe Intel? Next you'll be telling me the sky and ocean aren't blue either!!!

OMG They're not really blue either? Frigging atmospheric tricks. Wavelengths and ****

Thanks for the lesson gang. Much appreciated.

god, please give me serious answer.

The serious answer is that with the old type of turbo boost, the CPU can only boost to 3.5 GHz. But with the new turbo boost max feature, it can scale up towards 4.0 GHz depending on the workload and how good a chip you happen to get.

calm down computer boy. read what was posted their is alot of good info. the cpu will hit close to 4 ghz with a single thread and a multiplier of 39 at 2 threads its will hit 3.8 at a multiplier of 38 at 3 threads it will be down to 3.5ghz you do not need to do anything this is what the cpu will do on its own however depending on the program you can see an advantage of disabling cores

The max turbo is 3.5ghz as I mentioned before.

Unfortunately as the review mentions, intel's documentation is lacking on the new feature. It does require a driver as well as mobo support so you can imagine it is not something it would default to.

This is going to be another feature to confuse people...

lol, guess your answers addresses my concern tiger mask!

so turn on the 4 turbo boost, it shall be activated manually through a supporting program/software...

if that's the case, then I will end up getting the 6900k with a base speed of 3.2 ghz.

I don't have time to risk my new cpu and I guess 6900k is the flagship herein not the 6950x.

thanks bud

the question is, will it hit the 4 edge by itself or through the software with the preview image (in the link) max turbo technology 3.0?

I am kinda lost not knowing what to do. I feel I want to back out the deal with this computer shop and get my money back. I don't like to buy vague items with shadowy specifications.

Intel is not being straight forward with this specific cpu.

I am LOST
