Hello Everyone,
I am looking to replace my current router.
I have just acquired FTTP.
I have a 1 Gbps connection.
I am looking for a router that will give me:
wi-fi 7, 10 Gbps Wan (Ethernet), 4 Lan Ports 2.5Gbps, usb3 add on storage.
Excellent wi-fi coverage, I know that’s an emotive subject.

The TP-Link Archer GE800 BE19000 wi-fi 7
fits my requirements with the exception that
It has a lot of the hardware dedicated to Games players.
Which I am not one of them. I am assuming here
That I will be paying for something that I will get no benefit
from?

Can I get some suggestions on what else would be a good
buy without all the Gaming stuff in it?
I am happy to wait a few months if there are any new models coming out
that will fill my requirement or dare I say exceed my requirement’s.
Thank you for your thoughts.

I guess it all depends on why you need such fast data ports.

Do you have some kind of servers in your house that can run on 10gbit ports.

High speed really only benefits large file transfers. In your house you would need a application that was transferring huge amounts of data between devices.

For in home use you really only need a switch that has fast port. The cost on switches with multiple 2.5/5/10g ports has been dropping. There are many variations at many price points so you would have to look.

You would only need a router like that if you needed higher than 1gbit speed to the internet. You would have to buy a faster package from your provider to benefit. Again the faster speed only helps large file transfer. There is even less of a application here. It would allow you to download you games faster but most people are not downloading games 24x7. I guess if you were one of those people who runs torrents. In most cases it is hard to even justify the need for 1gbit. Something like netflix 4k only uses maybe 30mbps and you could have 3 different movies running on just 100mbps.

Wifi7 is still very new and many devices even if they claim to be wifi7 do not fully support all the features. High speed wifi is kinda silly. Again high bandwidth only helps on data transfer. Something like a phone or tablet that can only run on wifi has almost no data storage so all it means is you max out the storage faster. Most devices that can run application that have large storage needs have ethernet ports.

In general even wifi5 will give you 300mbps in most cases and that is more than good enough for devices that only run on wifi.

Don't buy into the marketing hype only buy something that you know will benefit you in the very near future.

Thank you bill001g & Ralston18 for your thoughts.
They were very much appreciated!
I currently have a 2.5Gbps network cards in my PCs
and a 2.5 GB Switch.
That is why I thought having the 4 Lan Ports at 2.5Gbps
would complement my system?
I do move a lot of Video Files on the network.
I currently have 20TB of video and growing.
Moving them can be slow at times.

Traffic on your switch will stay on your switch, unless you have VLANs or other more advanced features enabled. If you have 1GE WAN then your router LAN ports won't benefit from greater than 1GE.
USB on a router is usually a poor network storage appliance. Why? Router CPUs are too under powered to do routing AND storage. USB is not an efficient interface. Most users leave the USB drive as NTFS which is inefficient with a Linux based OS on the router. If you want network storage then buy dedicated hardware for network storage.

Thank you kanewolf,
No I do not have VLANs
The switch is a Unmanaged switch.
I get it now about the USB storage,
that will not be a requirement!!
I will concentrate on speeding my internal network up
and improve my data transfer speeds across the network.

As mentioned above, 2 systems connected to the same switch, the data stays within that switch.

PC -> switch -> PC.
It never goes upstream to and through the router.
