MB bios option is let bios config PNP devices = default.

Which is better, bios config or OS?

I wonder if this is why system restore(WinME) does not work properly - allways reports unable to restore, no changes have been made?

And if I change the bios PNP to default now, will it cause problems - ie. should it only be set before installation of OS, can't be changed after?

PNP support works better for BIOS for several reasons, including having fully configured IRQ's (no conflicts) even before the OS loads.

WinME is not really a true plug'n play OS. Best to let your BIOS handle it in your case.

What the heck are you still running WinME for?

I keep getting asked this question all the time.

I'll answer it again- I got ME for free with A PC bought from auction and finances at the moment don't allow for purchase of XP.

Although I should buy XP next, my first choice will be a medium to high powered GC, followed by P4 3.0 to 3.4GHz 775 CPU and MB, then XP.

I'll change it to BIOS configered PNP.

And it's OK to do it now - no problems should occur.

BIOS will just change windows previous configeration as neccessary?

Is this correct?

If Windows has to reconfigure some hardware, it should find the drivers that have already been installed in their already installed locations.
