Oh that, LMAO, yeah I'm proper gutted I ordered my DK2 instead of that mobile phone holder

So how is THAT better than the Rift exactly?

I didn't care about OR before the purchase, I don't really care about it now, but I don't think it's this doom and gloom that all the pseudo butt-hurt tech forum trolls are whining about.

Actually, I couldn't think of a better company than Valve to purchase Oculus. I still have no idea what Facebook has planned for OR. I can't see how they can implement web based games to use the virtual reality (unless it's 20 years down the road when everyone has super fast internet).

What really comes into question is crowdsourcing.
Is it just a way to prove viability and attract venture capital?
So your investment is just pre-pre-ordering, then?

That's not what most have done and if this becomes the new trend then I would only invest the bare minimum.

As for this deal yeah, OK, fine it's just is not as interesting because the fun is gone. I have a hard time believing they will get to spend money freely any way they want, without interference. I don't mean wild abandon like the dot-com days, but let's see how they like having to justify and get approval for every expenditure going forward. When you get bought for 2 billion dollars things can get real different real fast.

Sulon Cortex AR-VR looks much more interesting anyway.

how about listing the answers in total? the poll when finished is completely misleading. 1. the article asks"What Do You Think of Facebook Buying Oculus VR?"2. the questions are like"Yes, nothing good can come of this"3. in the result it only states"Yes" - which implies agreement to the takeover instead of the actual meaningthis is formulated and presented completely backwards - fix please.

How about "Yes, Oculus Rift just went from beautiful and elegant to dirty and sleazy."I don't care if anything good does come from it. Facebook is just plain sleazy and I have no intention of supporting it in any way.

What? Sony and Valve already have there own, they wouldn't even want it. EA does not have deep enough pockets, and Apple would just put a Lightning connector on it and make it shiny then sell it for 8 times what its worth.

Who really, REALLY should have bought it is Google. Integration with Android and YouTube would be pretty freaking sick. VR+ would be awesome.

IF FB aquires AR it will be the death of the AR as we all envision it. AR will have an extremely limited game library with nothing but P2W games and massive amounts of microtransactions. FB will ue the AR as its new money machine by shoveling adverts and API down the throats of anyone who dare purchase it.

It's bad news for the gaming community.

IF FB aquires AR
They already did. FB has enough money to throw 2bil at suckerburg's pet projects, maybe he might do this for himself and for the gaming community to make something really cool, and not attach a crap ton of BS onto it. Wishful thinking, I know, but its possible they might actually do something good with this. If throwing around 2bil did not put a dent in my bank account, "Profit" would be the farthest thing from my mind.
