Hi all,

I just finished building my new computer and it has some performance issues

CPU:12700k
GPU:MSI Gaming X 4080
RAM:32gb 5600 corsair dominator
MB:ROG Maximus Z690 hero
PSU:corsair RM850

temps are great, usage of the cpu/gpu is a little down around the 50% mark for gpu and 25% for cpu when running games

GTA V: ultra settings (nothing in the advanced settings menu) 1440p with 70-110 FPS
dark souls 3: has become a stuttery mess with this new build
elden ring: normal issues everyone has been complaining about since release
MW2:max settings getting once again 70-120 fps but stuttery
hunt showdown: 90-165 max settings, which is great and smooth but was hoping to get a solid 165fps considering i was getting the same performance with a 3070

also i noticed i am getting a driver issue in device manager about a serial I/O 12C host but cannot fix it or get much info about what it does

cheers people thank you for your help in advance

UPDATE: installed bios 2703, installed chipset and audio drivers, DDU'd drivers and reinstalled, tested mem, passed tested ssds all passed and ran DISM.
has smoothed out dark souls and added a few frames here and there but i am still having the ACPI driver issue in deivce manager
Location: Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 7ACE Value: ACPI\CYP0002\4&280DEB7D&1

Is the video card plugged in directly to the motherboard or is a riser cable involved?

Along with updating the BIOS on the motherboard you should make sure all of the chipset and IO drivers are installed. I tend to try the ones from the motherboard vendor's website first just in case they have something specific support wise.

update USB audio Firmware

BIOS version is 2703? (Intel Management engine (Intel ME) will be updated simultaneously with it)

in the chipset section you can find chipset drivers and the folowing:
Intel Management Engine (already up to date if BIOS version is 2703)
Intel GNA (Audio KI noise reduction)
Intel SIO (most likely you missing driver for Serial I/O)

check windows integrity
open the command prompt as administrator and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

clean boot

check the memory by running memtest.org usb autoinstaller (bootable USB flash drive)

check the hard drive for errors with its manufacturer´s tool samsung magician and co

use ddu uninstaller and reinstall the latest graphics driver

did you install the serial io driver yet?

or try the Intel driver updater
I installed the driver and ran the driver and support assistant, the assistant believes i am up to date with all drivers.
now im just doing this as a hobby, so might sound like a dumb question but.........can i run without that driver? also i have noticed it is MSI afterburner that has been effecting my framerates
