i have been running on Win2K pro for a long time now and
today i installed XP SP1 on a second drive (can now boot
on either drives to win2k or winXP) but since i did that i
am getting popups like every minute (even when i am not
using the pc) they just keep coming. now i have never had
this problem before (i even have a popup blocker that has
never failed me). I only get these popups when i am
running on my C: drive (Win2k), i get no popups when i
boot on D: (WinXP).

any thoughts on how i could either stop getting popups or
just completely disable the internet on D: (the one with
XP) when i am running on C🙁Win2K) ?

Install a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm on the Windows 2000 computer.
What you are getting are not browser popups, but popups generated by the
messenger system.

Actually they are browser popups, its not the gray
messenger window ads

Hmm, sounds odd, Larry.

Have you tried running Ad-Aware, Spybot and HijackThis? If not, give them a
run.
