Are those fixes in 0.3.0-alpha2 or in your current work towards the
next release/version? Any predictions on the date for the next one?

A great variant - keep up the good work.

This works for me :)

Serves me right for almost playing only ToME in the last three years.
;-)

Seemingly, yes. When I realised it, it was too late. I used all my
Scrolls of Phase Door but was a bit unlucky where I was teleported.

Oh yes! At the moment I'm playing an HE rogue (clvl 35, 2000ft) in
NPP, half of my PoCCW are shattered not drunken. :-(

BTW, was this changed in Vanilla/NPP/Pos? I don't have memories that cold
attacks were such a nuisance years ago.

Darts? Or do you mean arrows? Yes, I think that could work but I can't
really estimate how fast they'll disappear when used. I would
test it, if you send a patch.

🙂

Agreed. But probably (+4,+4) would have been sufficient.

In NPP, I usually cast a resistance spell if I'm going to be fighting
freezers/burners, not just to protect myself but to protect equipment.
It's Ice Ogres and the like that seem to break the most stuff, since
they get in so many hits against you in an ordinary battle.

In vanilla, there is a1% chance of potion breakage for weak attacks and
3% chance for powerful attacks, with rods having only 1/4 the base
chance of breakage.

In NPP, it's a .8% chance for weak attacks, and a 2.4% chance for
strong attacks. If you have double-resist, the breakage chance is 40%
lower, 3/5 the basic breakage chance. For rods, the breakage chance is
3/5 the base chance, much higher than vanilla. Double ELEC resist
brings rod breakage chance down by 9/25, comparable to vanilla
breakage chance.

So Timo is right: if there are more broken potions in NPP, it's because
there are more cold-damage monsters. But he misses that NPP equipment
is a little tougher than vanilla equipment.

Short story: In NPP, always use protection spell if you want to
protect your potions. Resist Cold or Resist Heat&Cold is a cheap,
cheap spell.

No, but NPP has a lot more monsters that hit to freeze than vanilla.

IF you have the right damn book before all the damn ice ogres start
turning up - hasn't happened to me yet. White O's are up near the top
of my most irritating monsters list; maybe even above water hounds :)

No, darts that you throw.

With standard 1% (I think) breakage chance 20-30 should be enough
for some time.

I'm currently experimenting with some new "exotic" item types.
For example, Swords of Balrog (Balrog race starts with one) --
much rarer than even Blades of Chaos, but with 7d5 base damage, and
grant immunity to fire. That's a base type, so Sword of Balrog of
Fury or of Gondolin could be devastating, but it is even harder
to find than Ringil. Poisoned Darts could be another interesting
but rare base item.

In the current release.

In a week or two. (This means in June, if I get lucky 🙂

Balrog race? They arent on the monster listing...not that I am not happy that
you are putting one in 😀

So we should expect the new version out next week? :) :)

Well, next month is more like it :). I don't want to make predictions
anymore. Even Microsoft is usually wrong at theirs.
