Hello,

I've been using the same setup for the last 3 years now without problems. It's a two monitor setup and a RTX2080Ti (MSI). One monitor is connected via an HDMI to HDMI cable (this one works fine) the other via DP to HDMI. The latter has always worked without issue until about a month back or so when it started randomly disconnecting, I would usually just reconnect the DP/HDMI cable a few times and that would fix it. This doesn't work anymore as the second monitor now refuses to connect entirely. I've tried detecting monitor through Nvidia Control Panel and Windows settings, I've tried rolling back graphics card drivers, however, I can't access the device manager to check if there's something wrong there.

I've seen it suggested that it may have something to do with power and I've tried reconnecting power cables to no avail. The issue isn't with the cable or monitor as far as I can tell as the HDMI connection works fine for both monitors and when I plug in the DP cable, Windows makes the sound of having a new device connected but the screen remains black. Sometimes when I connect the second monitor, the HDMI connected screen also goes black and says no signal. Essentially when the HDMI Input for the monitors is hooked up to the DP on the RTX2080Ti they receive no signal and don't show up in my display settings or Nvidia control panel either.

Anyone have an idea of what the issue might be or how I could try remedy it?

Any help is much appreciated.

As cheap as they are may try a different adapter as well. Used to use an hdmi to vga adapter that failed after a year or two.
Thanks for the reply. That was basically my next step, I was thinking of getting a DP to VGA and DP to HDMI (the only connections my monitors have) and seeing if that changes anything, but just wanted to know if there might have been another solution to this.
