Possible faulty motherboard

Hey friends,
This past Thursday my screen shut down suddenly, and with it came a smell of burning ... something. I wasn't at my desk when it happened, but the PC was running a game that I stepped away from. First, there was the burning smell, like something overheating, and then I realized the screens were off, yet the PC was still running.

I have two monitors, each received no signal. I turned it on and off again a few times, praying, but nothing came up. The monitors get no signal.

I figured, "okay maybe the GPU just died", so I plugged the HDMI into the motherboard, still no signal.

I decided to buy a new psu since not only was it a possible suspect, but I was due a new one as mine was 6 years old (Corsair CX750). Received the new psu today (EVGA G3 750), set everything up, still nothing.

Now let me step back a little. While I was troubleshooting the first time it happened, I notice my GPU lights weren't on, and the GPU fans were not spinning, which is what originally led me to believe that maybe the PSU was shot.

So today, I exchanged PSU's, and still receive no signal. Also, the GPU lights still don't turn on, nor do the fans move.

I decided that I'd try to see if it was a faulty motherboard next. My build is somewhat old, not too much (I'll leave it below). However, I can't find a Z97 board in stock anywhere. Are they outdated or have they been discontinued?

Before I buy one and waste more money, I'd like somebody to help me out that knows more than me, which isn't hard. If there is still no signal even when plugged into the motherboard, then it must be the motherboard that is the issue, right?

To be clear, everything turns on, except the GPU. All the mobo lights and fans are running. I can hear the CPU cooler flowing. It's everything BUT video. Which I'd think would be the GPU, yet the mobo doesn't work either.

CPU.- i7 4790k
GPU - EVGA 1070
Motherboard - Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z97
PSU - (new) EVGA G3 750
RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance

Thank you for your time,
Kyle

If there was an electrical short that can kill multiple components. A short on the motherboard can kill CPU, GPU, RAM. It all depends on how bad it was. If you can get your hands on a new motherboard to test our parts that would be ideal.

Thank you for the recommendation. There are no visible signs of burning on the motherboard. I swear I can sense it coming from the gpu. But still, it doesn't make sense as to why I can't use my computer with the integrated graphics and the GPU pulled out. If it were the GPU then I should be able to still use it, correct?
