I'd like to get OS X running on my main computer, although I'm worried it just won't work due to me not having specific hardware. My full system specs:
AMD Athlon II X4 640
4GB DDR3
2x 320GB hard drives (one can be used soley for OS X)
MSI 880GM-E41 Mainboard
and everything else I would think is pretty irrelevant

I was hoping to install Snow Leopard, do you guys think it would work? I do know that it's harder to install it on an AMD system, but there apparently there are ways it can be done.

There aren't a ton of people here who really know a lot about hackintoshing. The OSx86 project site is really the best resource for this kind of stuff: http://www.osx86project.org/

They have lists of confirmed parts and the needed hacks/drivers to get the system running. I think you'd be ok with a C2D or C2Q over an AMD CPU if you can find one on a forum or something.

I don't know how you can get AMD CPUs to work with OS X. I'd imagine you need custom drivers since OS X doesn't support AMD.
