I don't think it was the worst game of the year by a long shot, I just think that as usual in this day and age, it was overly hyped and in some respects was overly ambitious for Crytek. They set themselves up for a fall by hyping the heck out of it and releasing a game that wasn't really finished. It is quite simply too buggy, but then, its an EA game (please don't give me any more BS about system specs. Have you ever seen a 120ft cruise ship doing 360's in the ocean? Tell me thats my systems fault...)

@the Cruise Ship doing 360's... lol. Another flaw that kinda annoyed me was when some of the aliens would attack and die, but still be in mid-air. So all the AI on your side would shoot and yell at the bugged alien as if it were still alive.

I really do despise EA... pushing games out too early all the time. It has been a rare occasion that I've seen an EA game that I actually felt was complete and didn't need more time in development. Another thing you'll notice with EA is that you're always forced to watch anything with their logo on it. There is absolutely no way to just spacebar, escape, press enter, etc. to get past an EA advert. Luckily you can just delete the video file that the advert is coming from and remove the problem... Gah, I hate those EA ads...

You have the latest driver, so I guess that's not your problem. However, you should uninstall it then reinstall it just to be sure.

Next, google search for Direct X Update and make sure you have the latest updates for direct x. Yes, the release updates quite often, so try this. Doing so solved a notorious start up issue for many people in bioshock.

Not crysis, but in oblivion, my old Radeon X800XL would do that same thing sometimes when I overclocked my card too far and it overheated. Download rivatuner and underclock the core clock, shader, and memory frequencies significantly and see if you still experience the issue. You may have an overheating/defective card that should be returned.

To krisboro

Not sure you did play on hard, as i watch my mate played on Normal, enemy tank will fire at you from certain range, and missiles flying right at u. Althought you might not die by 1 impact, protected by your nanosuit. but they will see you. Only on Easy the AI is dumb, you fire at them once and hit them, they run around like headless chicken and resumes their normal walking position after awhile.

Initiating time is depending on your RAM speed, or RAM transfer speed. I have 2 screens, runing CPU, RAM usage and Task Manager. Crytek logo only show up after the game have aquired around 1.10GB of RAM (on windows vista) but it takes only around 10 - 15 secs, (which gives you time for a quick pee, and get yourself ready to shoot some aliens)

Your HDD kicks in when level is loading.

Sorry for misunderstanding.

Again, it wasn't the tanks that were the problem, they were blasting the s*** out of me. I got out of the tank took out the tank with a rocket launcher and ran towards the Korean soldiers. I could stand face to face with the soldiers for as long as I wanted and they would not see me. At all. They were creeping around looking for me, but when face to face, they didn't see me at all. I think this is a glitch in the game at that point, as I pointed out in my initial post. I'm quite sure all of the problems could be easily fixed, but all of the bugs just go to show how this game wasn't ready for release at the time it went into mass production. I watched the end credits and looked at the huge list of testers all over the world and had to wonder if these people were dumber than everyone else who has played this game since its release.

Thanks for the explanation of the load times. BTW I have 2GB of Kingston Hyper X RAM running 800mhz @ 2.00V. Not much, but enough for everything else I have played.

The list of bugs posted here covers all the bugs I've encountered. This all just helps to reassure my statement that it was released either to early, or is just a horrible game when it comes to optimization and scaling towards performance and hardware. Crysis was just $50 down the drain in my opinion.

Bug:

On the level where u sink my battle ship so the vtol's can drop the 3 tanks...

That all goes fine, run over to meet General Jackass with the 3 tanks, he blows the tunnel open... then what?

Ive tried getting in all tanks, i cant, did a lap of the island and mopped up all enemies (i think) cant go past.

GRRRR!!!

glory Hallelujah! I fixed my problem. Playing from half way through the previous level, then playing all the way through relic without using the quicksave feature (not sure if that specifically actually made a difference) and i got picked up by the vtol finally!

Still, i am seriously disappointed that i've had to wait almost two weeks after everyone else has finished the game before i get my chance.

and mrmez, try jumping up on top of the available tank, i think that may have done the trick for me, though i was never actually stuck. also, i've heard some rumors on other boards that quicksaving somehow messes up some of the event triggers. So maybe try replaying the entire level on easy and not using quicksave. Also, you shouldn't have to kill every soldier to complete this mission...i know i sure didn't!

Rayzor:
Not kill every soldier? What? And let those fkers breed! No way, its like pokemon... gotta kill em all :p

Id say the quicksave messing up triggers is EXACTLY the prob.
Options: Cheat and skip the level... dunno how?
Restart @ end of previous level, and use 'No target' cheat and smash thru not saving

Well I just completed the game on sat night and I have to say that I was actually very happy with the game overall. Sure I did see a few things like soldiers running at me to only trip over a brick and die. I also saw a soldier walk in to a slanted wall, which killed him. The worst thing I had happen to the game was a crash near the end when the game froze up but that only happened the once. So if that’s all that was the matter with the game for me then that’s great, I have had many more bugs in much higher rated games.

The tank parked nearest to the tunnel is the one for you, but you need to let Gen. JackAss finishes his speech and lead the way into the tunnel before you could get in.

Get close to his tank, and he'll give you some promise how his tanks will blast the way for you (only to find themselves on flames after coming out from the other side)

Hope this works out for you, and be sure you get out of your tank when its about 60 - 70% damage as soon as possible... :D

i thought the nano suit was meant to be strong ......... i think i'll find a way to strip naked and steal some korean body armor .............

i take about 5 shots and i'm dead ..... one guy took 3 shotgun blasts from 2 feet away to the head and still shoot me after it.

lets take graphics ...... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

trees are good, water is good .......... yeh that's about it.

textures are horrible...... early in the game, when u first come to the beach and have to distroy the jammer. after you run around and kill everyone, go into the cabin and have a look at the N64 like textures on the walls ...... not to mention the blur on all the rocks in the game.

for a game that is meant to be the "next" generation, there is a lot of BAD points graphicly in the game, esspeially when it comes to textures. Xbox360 games dont blur up when u get close to a wall or to a rock, yet crysis does.

sure glad i didn't go out and spend a few grand on a new computer for this, new version of DOOM3.

reviewers will be saying the same i think in a few months time, doom3 got 9.5/10 or higher from EVERYONE on release, now they all say they hope games dont turn out to be as bad. doom you run into a room, lights go off. kill everything lights come back on, move to the next room. crysis you walk through some trees, kill a guard post. then nothing till you get to the next guard post.

I get as far as him blasting a hole in the tunnel, then nothing.
Tried heaps of times, nothing.

On a more interesting note...
drop 4 explosive packs, drive a hummer over them, watch from a safe distance, click click BOOM!!!
Ala-Halo style wartog jump. Those things fly for MILES!!

U can get creative and see if u can hit a vtol mid flight :D
Also get on the hummer and blow it up. Sadly u often respawn before u start falling.

Looks awesome tho. Should try it with god mode on, hahahaha!

I had a few bugs but it was more to do with the ATI hot fix, I was up to the zero grav bit (On Normal) and decided to install the hotfix and thats when i started to get a white screen which wouldn't go off until i restarted the game this happend quite a few times from that level till the end of the game.
When playing it on a second time (On hard) I reinstalled cat 7.10 and didn't have a problem all the way through the game.

The game crashed once while it was saving a check point and wiped my user, I created the same user name and all my saves came back (was sweating like mad when it happend cause i was right at the end :s)

I enjoyed the game but it did keep reminding me of far cry, Fingers crossed Far cry 2 will be awesome with no bugs in it :)

My game is crashing out COMPLETELY at the end of the "Escape to the Aircraft Carrier - Part 2" mission in the VTOL's missions (Man I HATE the VTOL!!!). Anyway, I get out of the valley to were Psycho tells me that I am almost to the Aircraft Carrier but then the game just crashes hard. It just up and shuts down. Sometimes the sound keeps going. I am very pissed. The actions has been rocking and this game kicks azz! Until this crash that is. I am stuck right now and can not get further! PLEASE HELP!!!!! I am desperate to get further in the game! I have some more alien butts to kick! :)

My Specs you say?

- Windows XP x64 Professional
- ASUS M2N-E MoBo
- Dual Core AMD Athalon 3.2 gig 6400+ Black Edition
- 8 GB of Patriot DDR2 800 System RAM
- NVidia Quaddro 4600 FX with 768 MB of VRAM
- Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtream Gamer
- WD SATA 150 GB 10,000 RPM Raptor HD
- NZXT Lexa Blackline Case
- Zalman 110 mm down ward blowing all copper fan with dual heat sink pipes

As you can see I have enough power to run the game relatively well. I am running it on "High" game setting across the board in the with no AA on at all at 1440 x 900 Resolution. I have no other crashes at all besides this one. So far my system has been churning out around 45-30 FPS regularly with no problems. It is not the best (60 FPS), but it is very acceptable. All my system drivers are up to date. WTF IS GOING ON?????

when you say it 'up and shuts down' do you mean your whole system crashes? Does your monitor 'lose it's signal'? These could be possible symptoms of a video card problem.

Without opening your case, try these things first:

1. Download and install the latest drivers for your video card.
2. Google search for the latest direct x updates, download from the microsoft website, and install.
3. Reinstall the game.

Let us know how it goes.

Game runs like total crap with this system!:

Phenom 2.3ghz
Gigabyte 790FX motherboard
4Gigs DDR2 800ram
2 HD3850 graphics in crossfire mode
onboard DTS sound
1 western digital 70gig 10,00rpm SATA1.5gb/s
1 western digital 350gig SATA3.0gb/s
1 Seagate 160gig SATA3.0gb/s
1680x1050 22" flatscreen monitor
Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1
-----------------------
The graphics flicker in the distance with one card turned off, with crossfire on everything flickers/gargles.
If I lower the screen rez in the game to 1280x960 most of the flickers go away in crossfire and with only 1 card it dont get many...

The graphics wont go past medium settings with crossfire on and it should be on Very high since cpu usage is 20%.

The graphics seem to artifact when nothing is overclocked, like characters and such.

The game crashes. Then my system goes to the desktop and a typical Windows error message comes up. Sometimes the sound keep going while the error message is up, but it is all garbled and messed up.

My video card drivers are updated and I tried reinstalling the game too. :( This makes me a very sad Panda. I guess I could try updating DriectX, but I am pretty sure that has been done too. I am obsessive about keeping things up to date on my system.

It is also a fresh reinstall of my OS. I even tried running the game in 64-bit mode, but the same thing happens. I guess I could try to restart the level, but something tells me that is not going to help either. I am almost done with the level too. :( This sucks. Crytek needs to make a major patch and soon.

Thanks for the reply BTW. I have been to many other forums addressing bugs and such in Crysis, even the official EA one, and no one has answered me at all.

Up dated to DX9c just to make sure that was not it. It was not. Psycho still tells me I am about 2 clicks away from the Aircraft Carrier and then the game crashes to the desk top and an error message. I am one sad sad gaming Panda....

Well without having played it the game looks very much like FC (great gfx and fun game when playing it the first time - but take the gfx away and you would rather play Quake 2) - crappy AI, no worthy multiplayer mode (will get tiresome after a few hours/days).. don't know if FC's crappy save system was transported to the new engine.

well, there is also a known issue with the quicksave system. some people have overridden bugs by starting starting from the very beginning of a level and replaying the entire thing without using any quicksaves. You can save through the menu, but no quicksaves. While your at it, try updating the drivers for your audio device as well, just to rule that possibility out.

Play the game on Delta and let us know how smart the AI is. And no, I would not rather play Quake 2. Quake 2 is old hat. You might want to go back and play it, but "I" don't. I might want to go play Bioshock or UnReal 3, but not Quake 2. I don't know about the rest of the people here. They seemed to enjoy Crysis well enough too, discounting the bugs and crashes. But bugs and crashes always happen with PC games at release.

I wonder if the quick save system has hosed my game at the end of the level. I will go back and save only through the menu save option to see if I can progress past the end of the level of if it crashes like it has before. I shall see. :fou:

i cant belive you guys didnt get this one
sometimes people will just randomly die.
i think theres like a break in the phsysics engine when it calculates damage based on objects falling because sometimes the Koreans will just walk into a tree or wall for a few seconds and then die but its the same animation like in the first mission where you knock over the logs.
its kinda wierd
