My first build!
After a month since I first ordered all the component I have finally built it. I have had a pretty bad time ordering my pc. The ram prices went up by £30, the Toughpower PS were all out of stock, the X2 accelero went out of stock after I ordered it from scan so I had to wait, I accidently ordered the same stuff twice from Komplett and I ordered the case from ACMW and after a week I phoned to find out that half their stock had been stolen so I had to order from another company. However none of the components have problems and the monitor has no dead pixels

It seems we don't have a digital camera in the house at the moment so I drew my pc in paint. Sorry about the mess.

That actually looks nothing like it but it was easy to draw.

Specs

E6400
2gb G.Skill C4 F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK
Asus P5W DH
Sapphire X1900XTX 😀 got it cheap on ebay
Accelero X2
Hiper type R 580W (I wanted a toughpower with cable management but alas none in stock)
X-fi Xtreme music
250GB samsung SATA
Pioneer DVR-111
Lite-on SHM-165P6S
Razer mouse
Thermaltake Tsunami case
LG L204WT

Oh and for Zellio a HP deskjet 5650 with a photo ink cartridge!

Just a few questions though, I've partitioned my HD and it thinks windows is on all of the partitions which doesn't matter for the moment but how do I set the default drive for booting? At the moment I have to watch carefully and select the second on the list before it loads the first.

Also is there a way of changing the fan rotation speed of the case fans?

Thanks

I'm self employed, I do mechanical drawings and I pretty much work from home... other than going to a site once in a while.

So is the Falcon as screamer as you expected???

--------------------

I just moved an old P4 rig from a mini-tower case to a Lian Li PC61. For 4 years I'd run this as the family email and surf machine with just one HD. When I added a second HD, the system HD went from 39 to 49C and the mobo went from 41 to 47C. That HD temp made me nervous, but when the PS started making odd noises, I decided to make the switch. Fortunately, Newegg had the PC61 at $15 off and I found a Zalman 7900 for $41. The PC61 has two 8cm fans in front of the main HD rack and a 3-position switch for them. Here are the data:

Original case: CPU: 36C Idle, 56C Load; Mobo: 47C Idle, 51C Load; HD0: 49C Idle, 52C Load; HD1: 42C Idle, 46C Load

PC61, front fans Low: CPU: 35C Idle, 52C Load; Mobo: 37C Idle, 45C Load; HD0: 34C Idle, 37C Load; HD1: 31C Idle, 36C Load

PC61, front fans high: CPU 33C Idle, 51C Load; Mobo: 35C Idle, 44C Load; HD0: 29C Idle, 33C Load; HD1: 26C Idle, 32C Load

Those temps are for the afternoon and evening after moving the components over so the AS5 has not had time to cure. It may take another day or two for the CPU temps to settle in. Today, it was at 31C after idling an hour, so the cure was underway. What really stands out are the mobo and HD temp drops. With the front fans on high, the PC61 is about 2 dB louder at the user's ear when at the keyboard. With them on low, it sounds slightly louder but measures identical to the old case. I'm going to order some Silenx fans and I'd expect the temps to rise maybe 1 or 2C and the sound to decrease by a few dB based on experience with other builds. (although I'm thinking of adding a 9.2 cm fan to the door vent right next to the GPU and that will probably knock the temps back down) The good news is that the ol' P4 rig has a new, cooler lease on life and is ready for a RAID card and more HDs in its quest to become a file server. I upgraded from its faded 7 year old CRT to a Samsung 204B and life is good. Next payday, I'm going to pick up an X850XT for it and it should be able to serve as a decent spare game box for when the kids have friends over.

Of course, being able to run all my games at Max detail at 1600x1200 with no significant slowdown. Compared to my last rig it's a beast, I love it. The wiring job is top notch, the case is gorgeous and the speed is incredible.

Thanks, it took me several seconds. 8O that's unbeleivable I got mine for £225. Did the guy make a listing mistake (ie spelling error in the title) or something.

Btw total price £1279

Oh and I solved the boot problem. I messed around with boot files etc screwed up my pc and installed windows in another partition and after four hours of tickering finally everything is OK, well it takes about twice as long to load windows and does weird stuff if connected to the network when it loads but all is well

Finally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Here's my beast. I apologize for the blurriness, my camera was about to die and I just wanted to get some mug shots up.

The last pic is of the top of the case. The modular power supply and the top fan wouldn't fit, so I had to make a sacrifice.

Haven't really benchmarked it yet, but it runs games like FEAR fast and smooth with the details set to "rock your socks." No extensive overclocking, but I'm pretty sure my motherboard is limiting me - I could only hit 2158MHz, an 8% overclock.

My wiring isn't too bad, I don't think, for how much stuff is in there. Considering that I have 3 hard drives, 2 opticals, a lightbus, a floppy, and 3 case fans, I'd say I did pretty well for my first time. Almost defeated the point of having a modular power supply ^_^

Oh, and the room is my dorm at college. My wall is very interesting, methinks. Jon Belushi is my hero. *sighs*

Whaddy'a think?

Top notch wiring?! :? Did you have to pay extra for that and oh I see some wires in there. Nice rig though.

uber_g's wiring is better than that. Far better. My wiring doesn't matter, because my computer works, and my case doesn't have a window.

the only thing I can see out of place is my wires for my cathode tube. Everything else is as minimal as needed to be. Wrapped and tucked away folded and against the wall. Am I missing something here? Is there some way to make wires invisible? Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice... cuz now you are just being picky.

Is there some way to make wires invisible?

Yes. Get a case without a window; therefore, people can't kvetch about your wiring.

Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice...

...Cause it's a bad picture! Although I can't blame you; you were probably drunk at the time (going by the bottle of Heinikin next to the PC  )

Wanna post some benchies? Some more pictures?

BIGGER PICTURE

My watercooling consisting of D-Tech MP-05 SP LE, Swiftech MCP655 Pump, Swiftech MCRES Resevoir, ClearFLEX 60 Tubing 1/2" ID / 5/8" OD, Black Ice GT stealth 120 - Black comes tomorrow. Once I have that up and running, I will post some interior pics!

Mr. T says, "I pity the fool who git drunk off one bottle a' Heineken!"

And you can rest assured that Falcon did a crackerjack job with the wiring. Hell, I wouldn't mind being the proud owner of a Mach V or a FragBox. Preferably a FragBox, for going to LAN parties.

Although, I would miss that home-made appeal. *sniff*

The Willamette 1.60 was a Sony VAIO that I moved to a new case. And the 1.30 was built dirt cheap, had the parts lying around, only needed a power supply so I decided to build it.

It are teh truth . And my case wiring still sucks.
