Post your Pentium D 805 Temps

I've been trawling the net trying to find out what temperatures other people are experiencing with this chip, so if anyone has an 805 could you post what temperatures you get (at stock settings if you know) and what your cooling setup is.

Many thanks.

Mine idles at 37 and load is about 46 at stock settings with a Koolance Exos water cooler. I'm hoping these will come down a bit as the Arctic Cooling MX-1 I used takes 200 hours to perform at peak efficiency (and these temps are 5 minutes after it was applied).

I'm running at 3.6 rock solid stable with a Antec Super Lanboy case w/ a Zalman CNPS9500 LED and my temps are:

System 35-39C and CPU 37-42C

Not sure what they were before the OC. I'm happy here. I run BF2 at all the high settings with all the filtering, etc., turned up with no problems.

How are you measureing those temps? They really don't tally with the THG article: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/2006/05/10/dual_41_ghz_cores_uk/page25.html

I used a few different software programs to get those. I did do some full load testing earlier and found I was off quite a bit for full load temps. I spiked up to 51C top temp under full load after about 45 minutes. Still not shabby I think. Just waiting for Conroe and DirectX 10 before I do any upgrades.

Oh right, have you tried running 2 instances of Prime 95 (one on each core) for any amount of time?

You temps certainly aren't shabby, what voltage are you at?

I used EVEREST Ultimate Edition to stress both cores full load, hard drives, memory, and video card. 51C was max temp after 45 minutes. Pretty nice software. It does quite a bit.

I have a Thermal Take Tai Chi case with fitted water cooling (very similar to TT Big Water but radiator is twice as big!) my 805D is currently @ 3.8ghz (1.45v) and is very stable however the temps are as follows:

45*C idle
63*C max load

Thermal monitor seems to kick in if i go over 70*C, which means if i OC to around 4ghz+ it gets too hot & drops to around 2.6ghz under heavy load..

I thought my temps were inline with THG but your temps seem to suggest my water cooling is not working properly :?

Maybe something is off with my temps. That is what all of my temp software including bios temp is telling me I am running at. Maybe the motherboard is reading it lower. I checked the link above and mine are alot lower then those reports.

The temps on the THG link are air cooled so you would expect to them to be higher..this is my first water cooled build so i'm not really sure what temps i should be getting!..i think mine should be lower and yours should be higher lol!

oh yeah, that will help. My pc sits inside a desk, that makes a *huge* difference. My older air-cooled pc would go up about 5-8c just putting it in the desk. This one (watercooled) isn't as bad. I have the radiator away from the desk. THe MB temps are still high while inside the desk.

Inside the desk, at 4.2ghz I'm seeing low 30's at idle, and 48-49c under full load. At 3.6ghz everything was about 10-12c lower.

I used to have a Koolance Exos to water cool with and opted away from it with this system I just built. It's my laptop replacement. I just hate how you are stuck with what you buy from a laptop. So I built a small system and i'm going to lug it in a bag.

Well I must say it's nice to see somebody else that's watercooled with temps similar to mine. I've tried re-applying the thermal paste but it didn't help much, we may have just been unlucky and got hot chips. We're still way below the THG air temps. If that's the case there seem to be a lot of lucky people with cool chips around though...

The main success story of my system so was WAS the gfx card which was overclocking nicely. I was going for 5000 marks in 3dmark 06 and pretty much got there when all hell broke loose and the machine locked up. Now it crashes if I overclock anything on the card by even 5mhz.

Oh well, c'est la vie. I'll have to make do with 4.5k marks.

I had alot of problems getting 3DMark '06 to run without locking up while overclocking the CPU. My GFX card is still at the stock clock, and I made 6018.

Hello i am a noob. I really really need help... i have a p5wd2-e Premium mobo and an 805 with a thermaltake bigwater SE... this is my problem and any replies will be appreciated. I have it clocked to 3.6Ghz and and my temps are as follows. Idle 54Deg and load 68Deg. It climbs almost instantly to those values. like whithin 2 seconds from idle to load it will climb 14Deg and drop just as fast when the load dissapears. Firstly this does not seem right. It is my first time with WC but isnt the temps supposed to gradually increse. i have a paper thin layer of thermaltake paste on the blk. I cannot under any circumstances (voltage etc) get past 3.6ghz as my pc just freezes... i am so sad a i spent loads of cash for this setup. dunno if this helps but i have 2x 1024Mb ADATA DDR800 5-5-5-12.
1. Is the quick change in temps normal?
2. Is the bigwater SE that crappe or have i installed it wrong?
3. With the current ram what should i be getting with stable clock rates?

THANKS Everyone !!!

akhannay, I've got your motherboard and can't get mine past 3.6Ghz either. Your lockup problems are probably to do with the core voltage dropping a lot under load, it's a common problem on this motherboard I'm afraid. If you're feeling brave click here and there is a mod you can do to the motherboard to solve the problem. I've decided I don't want to go taking a soldering iron to my new, expensive motherboard just yet.

What voltage are you running at for those temperatures? I'm guessing quite high to maintain 3.6 with the vdroop (I've got to run it at 4.750). With regard to them jumping up quickly I think that's normal because (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) those temps are being read right from the processor itself. My CPU temps jump up really quick under load, but the temperature reading on my heatsink probe rises slowly because it takes a while for the water and sink to heat up. However your temps do seem a tad high even compared to mine which aren't very low either. Check you've got no kinks or air bubbles in the tubing or the block and then try reapplying the thermal paste. You should probably use some stuff to clean off the old paste (like Akasa TIM clean) before applying new paste.

Your RAM shouldn't be a problem at all till you get past 4Ghz as at the moment you are running it below spec.

Let me know how you get on with it.

Hi JK306... thanks for your time and lenghthy reply!!! i really appreciate it!... I reapplied the paste with arctic silver5 and i am now running stable at 3.8Ghz 1.5125v Idle39deg load48deg. noticed when i took my WB off it was loos and i cannot believe the difference arctic silver5 makes !!! You are a great help. Thanks again !!! :) :D :) :D :) :D

I have corsair nautilis500 and at 4.3ghz idles at 50°and gets up to
80°+after about and hour of dual prime depending on room temp also at 1.63v , but for daily use i am at 4.08ghz 47° idle and 64° load again dual prime at 1.51v,
However my highest benchies (7900gtx) came at 3.8ghz (46° idle dont have load) 3dmark06 of 6440 (here) went with nvidia beta driver and scores went down at 4.1ghz
3DMark Score 6356 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 2671 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 2667 Marks
CPU Score 2005 Marks

Edit: I did the mod on my p5wd2-e, I was at 3.8ghz and needed 1.61 volt to take into account the vdroop. I have done both pencil and hard mod on several boards and both work good. for the pencil mod I recommend a design drawing pencil set w/2b,2h,2hb as each lead has different resistance you can kind of tune in the best setup.

stock cooler
9cm front fan and 13 cm rear fan

38-39 C idle
48-55 C under load (encoding)....maybe i should clean the dust off. its been a while since I've maintained the hardware.
