Well, after pre-ordering it in June 2006, a demo has finally snuck out, and i thought it might be an idea to post some Frame rates just to see what everyone else out there is getting.

1280x1024, full detail

Shangri La - 35-40FPS

When upping it to 1680x1050, the frame rate dropped to between 27 and 33. for me this was unacceptable, and 35-40 seemed just about the limit to what i could cope with playing. Will hopefully be upgrading GPU soon, ready for Crysis! So anyone with an 8800GTX that fancies posting their results, please do!!!

My System:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 800
Leadtech 7950GX2
Intel Bad Axe M/B
Windows XP SP2

I've not long rebuilt this system, so all clock speeds are factory defaults at the moment, that will change soon enough!!

Cheers!

I played the MP Beta tonight on my buddy's rig @ 1280x1024 maxed everything + vsync and it stayed at 60fps for the entire time I played (regardless of the map). Of course, with vsync off we would of gotten higher I'm guessing. Mind you, this was the single player (bot match) games (DM,TDM,CTF,DUEL), so multiplayer might be a little different?

his specs are:

AMD 5200+ X2 @ 2.8GHz (stock)
2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 @ 667MHz
Creative Audigy 4
EVGA Superclocked 8800GTS 320MB
Windows XP SP2

Surprising how well the 8800GTS 320MB does in this game.

I've since overclocked the GPU, and now get 47-55 fps on 1280x1024 with max settings. Seems very smooth, and most of all, good fun!! Quick and frantic!

i have vista 32...

3 gigs ddr 2, e6600, 8800 gtx, no oc on anything...

i mean, my god... some of you people with cheap pc's get better fps than i do...

what the hell... did i build my pc wrong, or are some of my parts broken?

what the **** have i done wrong?

vertical sync is off, but the game never goes above 60 fps and drops down to 30 and i think below when action heats up...

what the ... dear jesus what the **** do i do? buy a second XP os and dual boot for games?

@1280x1024 using fraps I get 60-62 (that's the max, you can set that off but im lazy), it dips to 54 on occasion. C2Q6600, 8800GTS 320.

Edit: unlocked the fps goes from 50 to 120+.

Remember that this is a beta and with lower res textures than the finished product.

i run it 25-35fps with my 8600gt and my good old amd. And this game is very good playable even at 20fps. My settings are maxed @1440*900 (same as 1280*1024) so im pretty happy with it.

I have all settings maxed, 1680x1050, and run solid at 60FPS.
Thats on a Q6600 (Stock) 8800 GTS 320MB (O/C) and 2GB PC2-6400 RAM.
It's the most awesome game I've ever played so far I think. Mmm the old style sniper returns with a vengeance!

On single player with max settings and 10 bots on the shangri la map. I get dips into the mid 30's at the lowest. It normally stays around 45-50. Yes, there are times when its stuck at 60. Still very playable. Edit.....this is at 1280x1024. I need a faster processor. O, and i get a constant 62 fps at the main menu! heks yea!

getting 28-32fps
AMD X2 4200 @ 2.4
2G DDR-800
x1800xt 256Mb (Cat 7.10)
running at 1680x1050

i reduced the %render to 80, frames jumped to 32-40ish, cant really notice any loss in quality casue the low textures make the game feel gritty anyways

i also had to install another fresh windows version (XP pro x86) cause the beta is NOT compatible w/ XP x64. Hope that changes by full release

overall, not very pleased w/ frames, cant imagine them with full textures and/or AA enabled. Is the code not optimized yet or what? anyone know?

-btw you dont need fraps to see frames just access console in-game (by hitting "~") and type "stat fps"

Find UTEngine.ini

[Engine.GameEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false <default is true
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=62
bClearAnimSetLinkupCachesOnLoadMap=TRUE

Or you could try setting the limit higher (dont know if it works)

When i had posted the previous message i had it set at 85FPS and then once he tried to say i was lying i upped it to 150FPS max.

I dont remember if i signed a NDA or not, so i distorted the image except the FPS in the top left corner. If anyone tries to claim that its fake i have the original and will host it.

The first is 96FPS running around and scoped on the bridge looking at some aircraft in flight.
The second is siting idle at 115FPS.

Edit: click them to see full size!

E6700 @3GHz b/c of summer (Usually 3.3-3.5GHz), 8800GTS 640MB (648/1000) 1920x1200
Max 88 FPS
Min 58 FPS

Fun game 😀

ok i change the [Engine.GameEngine] and now i get up to 162fps on 1920x1200 maxed out immm doesnt sound right

correction i was on 800x600 its 80-115fps @1920x1200

Im not sure what you have done wrong, but @ 1440x900, medium settings i get 60 fps in both vista and xp...no change at all unless its an unnoticeable 2 - 3 fps. That is with the system below. On a system, which I built for a friend that consists of the following below:

PC Power and Cooling 610watt PSU
BFG 8800GTX 768mb OC (just the core to 600mhz)
e6600 @ 3.15ghz
2gb of DDR2 6400mhz @ 875mhz
320gb WD Hard Drive, 7200rpm, 16mb cache, SATA 2 HD
Gigabyte DS3 Motherboard
Win Vista Premium 32 bit edition with the latest drivers and updates

He runs @ 60fps @ all times because I am assumed that vsync is turned on by default (I do not see it in the options and I have not turned it on in my drivers) with the settings of 1680x1050 all details all the way up with default driver detail settings and he never dips or spikes. It is solid the whole time. It may go higher, but it doesnt need to the game runs perfect @ 60 fps and I would prefer to have a constant frame rate over a fluctuating one anyday. In other words I would prefer 30 FPS @ ALL times over a random change in between 40 - 60 fps anyday. So to answer your question yes you must have done something wrong. How is your PSU holding up? What are your temps like? Do you have all of the latests drivers/patches for vista and your vid card? How is your disk performance? Maybe a defrag is in order. Also is your system stable. Even @ stock some system are not stable check your voltages. My friends system I would not leave OC'd until I achieved 24+ hours of stability on Orthos and his memory and system components passed all tests. So there are a number of different factors, but I just thought I would let you know that your system with Vista can handle the game perfectly @ pretty much any setting I can think of on a 22" monitor or below. Hope this helps. I will check back to see if I can help to answer any more questions if you find the answers to any of my above questions to be the problem.

Also a note to anyone who may be running into performance problems. In the past most unreal games and well for that matter engines based on EPIC's design have been VERY CPU dependent. If you run into problems and have the newest drivers and clean OS then try upping your CPU speed if you can. A simple example to understand the difference between lower CPU and higher CPU usage for this engine is to turn on the Advanced Catalyst AI in the CCC if you have an ATI Card. It will take up much more CPU power than the standard setting. Run the UT demo and check your frames (check not only for highs of lows, but also just for smooth gameplay and consistency in the frames.) Then set the settings back to standard for the Catalyst AI in the CCC and you will see that your frames will be higher, more consistent, and map textures at the beginning of the map will load faster. All because then engine was able to utilize more of your CPU better. This has changed my friends thoughts on the game completely and I didnt even increase the actual speed of their proc...lol always the little things that make it ed?

Best,

Also, to anyone without fraps and who dont want to download it. To check your frames just bring down the console with ~ and then type the command "stat fps" and press enter. (note: do not use the actual " " around the command)
