I bought my computer on january of 2004, my computer has a 200 watts power
supply and I'm thinking of replacing my 4x DVD+RW Drive with a newer 16x
Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive.

Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive specification:
(16x DVD+R, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD+RW, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 2.4X DL, 40x CD-R,
24x CD-RW, 40x CD-ROM.

will this new Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive overtax the amount of wattage
I have?

my computer spec:
OS: MCE 2005
Pentium 4 ht
2.8 ghz, 512mb
9200 ati radeon 128mb AGP
single TV tuner
160 harddrive
7 in 1 memory card reader
2 optical drive (48x cd-rom, 4x DVD+RW/CD-RW)

FWIW, IMHO 200 Watts is a little bit too light-weight even
for the current system. We start with a minimum of 400 Watts
for any basic Pentium-4 machine.

This website has a calculator to help you determine what power supply is
needed for your system's configuration:

If your system is not "overtaxed" yet, you are very lucky. With a DVD
burner, 7 in 1 card readerm 2 optical drives and a hyper-threaded P4, a 350
watt would have been the "starting" power supply, so that you would have
"room" to expand.

Nowadays, a 400 watt power supply is more or less standard for for P4s. A
500 watt power supply would give you more "room" to expand later (if you
want a better video card.)

BTW: Replace you CD Rom drive instead! With two DVD drives, you can do
direct DVD to DVD copies.

No. The difference in power consumption between the two subject drives
isn't huge.
