i replaced my psu and now when i start it up it goes to a screeen that says american megatrends and tellings me my specs, then shuts off after 15 seconds.

If the new PSU is 520W, then what was the old one?

Is this new PSU actually a new unit, or was it an older unit that was pulled from some other machine? If it was a 2nd hand unit, was it known to be working before you moved it? Insigia isn't exactly a top of the line unit.

i bought this pc from another person and it had a 750w and he said it fried and said that it was too big for it and that i should get a 500w so i went to best buy and bought one there

Specs on the video card say it can used up to 219W
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-570/specifications
(which is a lot for a video card)

And the total system PSU should be 550W minimum.
Of course it depends on what else is in the box as well (number of hard drives & fans, PCI-E cards, etc..)

Often the cheap PSU units are weaker than the specs suggest. So a poor 520W unit might be on the limit.

Also if the old PSU blew up, are you sure all the other components are still working?
