Greetings,
I have an older Gateway (several years old). The power supply has
decided to 'not play nice'. Can I just get a standard ATX power supply,
or is there something different about the gateway power supplies ?

thanks,
Darryl

They are pretty much standard. Just get the physical measurements and
layout (fan, cable and mounting screw holes) and get one of the proper
layout and power rating.

I can tell you for sure that if your case is the one pictured below a
standard ATX will fit since I just replaced mine in the same case:

And that case uses the clip so screw holes didn't even matter.
