OK, I've gone through the search results, with many similar problems but none quite the same.
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC
Speakers: Edifier MR3 Powered (Front Left & Right)
SUB: Polk Audio PSW111 Powered sub

The motherboard has a C/Sub 3.5mm output.
The sub has two RCA inputs, with one designated as LFE.

I used an adapter cable, with a 3.5mm stereo jack into the C/Sub port on the motherboard and an RCA jack to the sub.

The sub sounds as it's supposed to in the Windows Sound Control Panel. All three of the speakers test fine. However, when playing audio or video files, the sub is silent. I've tried with three different players with no results.

I've gone through the Windows sound settings and the sub pretty much works every time. I've disabled all of the other speakers. All the cables are brand new, as are the speakers.

Any ideas out there?

Ideally you should have your audio setup like so:

The other thing you could do is this;

Since the audio chip on your motherboard is that of Realtek, are you seeing the same thing when using Realtek's Audio Console? Speaking of audio consoles, is your audio channel setup to quadraphonic or 5.1? On that note, you mentioned using an 3.5mm to RCA y-cable, is the Sub end of the 3.5mm connector hooked to the R/LFE in port while the L port is bare?

Wow, that's nothing like my setup. My left and right speakers are directly connected to the line out port on the motherboard, The sub is connected directly to the c/sub port on the motherboard. I'm using ONE of the two RCA jacks plugged into the LFE port on the sub, and the other jack is not plugged into anything.

At no point are the front speakers connected directly to the sub. Audio channels are 5.1.
So the c/sub port on the motherboard is not used at all?

I don't see the Realtek Audio Console on my system.

I've connected my system like Hookup Option 1 from the Polk user guide, except I've substituted the PCs audio output ports for a receiver's. I don't have an account at any of the approved sites so I can't post the picture, but it matches my description my my last post.
