I've heard the PowerMac G5 is an Intel killer. Should I get an Apple computer???

timberwolf1, are you serious? If so please explain just exactly what you've heard and why you'd believe it. Also if so, please give us examples if your typical usage of a computer and the software that you'll likely be running. (And for that matter a budget wouldn't hurt either.)

errr.. :
1) This is primarily a PC enthusiasts forum, so we're unlikely to recommend a Mac over a PC.
2) G5 is more expensive and slower than a decent P4 system. Apple cheated on the benchmarks that say otherwise.

so, seriously...
What do you want a computer for? (games, video editing/encoding, Office stuff, internet, all of the above)
..
And what's your budget?

[EDIT]
sorry slvr... I see you already asked all this, but I replied b4 I read yer post...

As for Price, yes it is more more expencive to buy a Mac rather then a PC, Reason is because you can Build you own PC. Building your own Is far cheaper and you get Exactly what you want.
HOWEVER, assuming that you are not one to build you own and would buy one from Dell or BestBuy or where ever, then the prices are about the same.

As for Speed, This has yet to accually be provin(on the G5)...there Still has not yet been any real tests (ones done by a none bios oppinion) done to prove this.

This is sad and more then likely true.

Other things to note:

Apple 'designs' its machines appearance, would you buy it becasue you like the look of it? becasue you can Find MANY nice looking Cases for PC's aswell.

Its has a hell of a cooling system in it... is this important to you?

If you would buy one, would it be the dual?

Another important note... do you know the Mac OS. Many Peaple say its the hardest system to learn here.
I don't think so, i thought it was easier. but everyone is differant. so you'll have to consider learing that too.

Anyone else reading this might have an opinion that might suit this <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=32459#32459" target="_new">poll</A>, chech it out.

Reviewers say that only the Dual G5 is worth buying. Some say don't go lower than the 1.8GHz or whichever the second best is.

For the price of the best and second best of a G5 system you can get a really fast PC from Alienware or Dell (XPS).

You'll get more use and features from a 2k-3k PC compared to a similar priced G5.

Alienware cases look COOL and actually COOLS your PC!

So I disagree with that it depends on the price. Macs are more expensive compared to their PC counterparts. Alienware or DELL doe have high prices but they will still be cheaper than the counterpart Mac.

Wondering if timberwolf1 will ever get back to us. Think we scared him off? :\

**ROFL** Right between pork and silicon. :O

Seriously though (as if this could even be a serious topic) I was just being silly and sticking with Nullsoft's obsession with all things llama. I guess I invisioned llama loaf to be something of a meatloaf with ground llama in there. **shrug** Beats me. It doesn't have to make sense to be funny. :)

actually...when i was a kid my mom used to cook lama...come to think of it she used some pretty strange meats...like bufflo...ostarige....go figure...my mom is/was weird!

anyhow...it tasted fine...i dunno if it is worthy of a siggy though...

Buffalo isn't that weird. **shrug** I eat that all the time. It's leaner than beef, has more vitamins, and it tastes better. :)

aren't bufflos endangered species...shouldn't it be illegal to eat 'em

If i put my k6 in a Ferrari it would be faster than your your pentium 4 or Athlon XP

**shrug** I dunno. I guess not or else it wouldn't be sold in so many places around here. **ROFL** Maybe it moved off of the endangered species list or it's a different breed than the endangered one.

no they are not endangered

however the ones you eat, they'd have to be farmed some how. buffalo roam for 100's of miles.... could you imagine hunting them to keep up with any type of demand? Ahhhh

All i know is they were endangered for quite a while...jeez...computer hardware to bufflo...i love THGC

After you eat Buffalo who the heck wants to eat cow.
**ROFL** Sadly that's pretty much my opinion. Not that I don't eat beef (since it's considerably cheaper and easier to find) but it's kind of like going from a filet mignon (or a t-bone if that's your thing) to a chuck steak. It's like going from a rich-flavoured 92% lean bbq grill cooked burger on a beautiful summer day at the lakefront to a burger at McDonalds. Some things just pale in comparison even if anything (even McDonalds) is better than nothing. Heh heh.
