I'm curious how many case fans a Fortron - FSP400PFN 400W Power Supply would support? I'm planning on putting 7 case fans in, 2x80mm(Front), 2x80mm(Side), 2x80mm(Rear), 1x80mm(chimney). The system will also include a single 120 gb HD, 2500 xp, liteon dvd, volcano 7+ heatsink/fan, and geforce4ti4200. IF anyone knows if this PSU would have enough cables to power all of the components, please tell me.
Link for the PSU is http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=Fortron+-+FSP400PFN

Such a powersupply can support LOTS.
Why?
Casefans don't use much power. A top end CPU draws around 70-100W at full speed.
Even the most powerful high speed obnoxious fans only draw around 10-12W... and some of the lowspeed ones only ~1W.

So its more a matter of how you connect them all up and trying to keep the messy wires under control.
Decent quality PSU's usually come with approx 8 to 12 molex connectors and 1 or 2 FDD connectors.

So as you only had one HDD and one optical that will mean you have around 6 or more unused molex connectors.
But even if you run out its no big problem.
Some 80mm fans ive seen come with useful passthough connectors. But you can also buy molex splitters at PC shops for a buck or two.

Easy!

You can chain fan cables together, so you shouldn't run out of plugs.

Yeah, most case fans are supplied with the molex pass through cable, so you no need to worry about running out of plug. And 7 fans is nothing, I currently have a total of 12 fans running on my Antec 400W SmartPower and they are doing fine, and I'm now looking to get another PCI slot blower, and one more case fan for rear exhaustion, so I'll have 14 fans!!!

If I agree with you... will you shut up?
