[Pre-Built] Better for Games? AMD FX 8120 Or I5-3450

Hi, Im new to this forum so please excuse my lack of knowledge of computers. Im currently switching from XBOX to PC games.
Im looking for a Pc witch i can play Games such as Battlefield 3/Call of duty but also do some multi tasking.
Iv read the Buyer guide on the forums but im still very unsure at what I should be looking for. ( Cores/graphics )

These are the two computers Iv been looking at lately. Price is a factor so I am trying to get the best bang for my buck.

The 8120 comes with a better GPU.

But the i5-3450 is a better gaming CPU (Not saying 8120 is bad).


Get the i5 system then slap a Radeon HD 7750 on it.

The i5 is a better CPU.

The AMD one has a better graphics card, so it will be better at gaming. However the 7670 isn't exactly very good.

I5 3450, the higher in numbers you go does it become better?
Also what does the "k" indicate at the end?

The K means that the CPU has an integrated video chip (built into the CPU)

It also means that the CPU has an unlocked multiplier which means it can be overclocked easier.

The i5 only has a 300w power supply.
7750 Hd says it needs a 400w power supply.. so i would have to upgrade this aswell?

They honestly both aren't that good comptuers. You can do alot better if you want to build instead.

For a 7750, if you have a 300W, you can run it.

Yeah im not looking for a power horse computer. just something to play my games with out lag.
Im more looking for the best bang for my buck.

Bang for the buck is going to be found by doing it yourself.

Yeah, brad, you're going to get a LOT more power out of a home-built computer for a LOT cheaper than if you buy a prebuilt.

Take this $400 rig. Graphically, it'll compete with either computer, and it has an SSD, no less.

For $600, you could build yourself an amazing computer, either using AMD's Trinity, which is an exceptionally good CPU that has no noticeable difference from an i5-3570k for half the price, or using a lower end i5.

Personally, I'd go with the Trinity - they're really not as bad compared to Intel as everyone makes them out to be, they just run hotter.

Good build, but ditch the Diablotek power supply. Go for something reputable with an 80 Plus rating.

It pays off in the long run.
