Prebuilt HP desktop, CPU upgrade trouble

I am using the M2N68-LA (Narra5) with an le-semperon 2.2. Im trying to upgrade my processor mainly for world of warcraft so im looking for the cheapest possible since the games requirements are not that high without bottlenecking my GPU and i dont fully understand the am2+ and am3 sockets or what i can upgrade to



550w power unit and a 9800gtx graphics card underclocked

AM3 CPUs will work in a AM2/AM2+ board as they support DDR2 and DDR3 RAM.

AM2/AM2+ CPUs won't work in a AM3 board due to the lack of DDR3 support.

I think AMD phenom ii X4 CPUs which are 95W and under will work but i can't be sure due to possible BIOS restrictions (the norm for OEMS, especially dell) but it is worth it to try.

Just remember, no black edition CPUs, Max is Phenom ii X4 and max 95W TDP/power consumption.

So the AMD Phenom II X4 B93 (ecx-Mic-US-425512) is a compatable chip? Is it possible to have a higher then a 95w since im not using the oem power unit

That should work.
No it can't exceed 95W, thats how much the motherboard can handle.

Yes i would think so as Semprons are low power chips (usually under 65W).

Are you getting one second hand or new boxed?

That should work aswell.

If brand new then it should come with a heatsink, if you are getting it second hand then you should get a after market CPU, the Hyper 212 Evo is a good cheap heatsink.
