I recently purchased an Asus vq248qe and found out that when running 144hz on the desktop the GPU has to overcompensate, and as a result works harder. I found a setting in nvidia inspector called 'preferred refresh rate' and was wondering if how I think it works is actually how it works.
I set my monitor refresh rate to 120hz, which fixes my issue, but I play a lot of CS:GO and so would like the convince of the refresh rate switching to 144hz when I launch the game. Does changing 'preferred refresh rate' to 'Highest available' for CSGO as a specific program cause my monitor refresh rate to switch to 144hz when I launch the game? Or does 'highest' mean the highest desktop refresh rate?
Thank you in advance.
