I have set up a Win2003 print server with Internet Printing and users now
can install available printers by going to the internal website or by
searching for the printer in Active Directory. My first question is

1.) How can I make printer install on to the Computer rather then to the
user, because at the moment as soon as user that has a printer installed
loges out and new user loges in it has to install the printer like the
previous user? Its not practical for me as I have 10 and more different
users using the same PC.

2.) When I search for the Printers in AD using Find Now I get the list of
the printers but I do not see them in any of the OU in the AD, when I try to
create the new printer I get the prompt screen to "Network path of the
pre-Windows 2000 print Share (\\server\share)" I don't want anything to do
with pre-Windows 2000 my print server is running on Windows 2003 and my
clients are only Windows 2000 or XP we are in the process of migrating from
NT4 but Print servers are something new that I have introduced in the AD we
have used Novell.

I'm sorry if I go the groups wrong, please tell me which is the best one to
send Printing issues to.

Thanks. Lazo.

Look into the windows 2000 resource kit, there is a dll that will allow you
to register a printer to all users on a computer.

it looks like this

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n \\server\printqueue

Ther is a stack more option switches to play with.

I have had some success with this, but non microsoft programs can have an
issue finding the printer.
