Probable driver issue

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A with a Realtek 8188EE WNIC. I am experiencing slow speeds on a wireless connection after about 2 minutes of use. Usually, I'll get my full 3mbps but when it starts slowing down, I'm getting 40kbps.

This is the only device on the network having the issue. I have reinstalled the drivers to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Bad router? people sharing network? Too far from router?

The laptop is not overheating.

I had a second laptop right next to me without speed issues. The issue is local with the laptop.

Also, I was having similar issues on a second router.

Check in Device Manager whether the device is showing as working ok

Yes. I tried uninstalling it and letting Windows reinstall the drivers. That did not solve it. I then uninstalled and then reinstalled with a fresh download of the drivers.

Also, I was having similar issues on a second router that I recently upgraded from.

Maybe it's just a poor wifi card in the laptop. Has it ever run OK?

Yes, it ran OK when it had Windows 8 on it before I changed it to Windows 7 :\

Well put Windows 8 back then. I don't know how it would make a difference. Are the wifi card drivers different for Windows 7 and 8?

Not that I'm aware of... one thing that might be making it is if I didn't use 64 bit drivers. I forgot to check that...

Oh well download and reinstall again - make sure they're for the OS you're using.

Checked the download and its for both 32 and 64. I'll probably just reinstall Windows and screw the hassle.

OK. Strange stuff happens with laptops. I spend a lot of time sorting out the missus Lenovo. I spend a long time looking for stuff.
