Hello Dear Sir,

How are you doing???

Thanks for helping everybody out of their PC problems.

I have a final trial for your exceptional capabilities.

Let's see how do you handle something real important???

Something I have been failed to trouble shoot own my own even I have tried all kind of solutions, even regedit and uppercase and lower case removal everything in my power.

Let's see if you are good enough to solve out this issue successfully???!!! :)

I have tried to connect Hitachi + LG = HL slim portable Blu-ray Writer (with 128GB BDXL Burning capability).

Model: BP55EB40

SVC Code: EB40

Manufactured: Dec. 2021 (20-12-2021)

Rom Version: 1.03

Windows 11 Home Edition (English Version) Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1848)

I have recently reinstalled Windows 11 Home edition on both laptops MSI GE66 Raider 10SFS & MSI GL66 Pulse 12UGK.

But none of them detect the above mentioned devices (I have 6 of them) and none of them works on both laptops. It is with USB2.0 interface and both USB2 and USB3.1 ports on both laptops do not detect them and there is nothing in device manager even I have installed all drivers on both laptops and have them Windows updated to full latest capacity.

No devices appears in device manager, if it was error with one drive I cannot presume that all 6 have error???

But funny thing is that I can open HL devices by pressing button on them???

Please take your time, and if you manage to solve out this issue successfully (make appear HL BP55EB40 in Windows explorer and Device manager) then my respect will be yours.

OK??? :))))

Thanks,

Have a great weekend,

Best regards,

Hey Man!!!
Thanks for your answer.
I think that it is called a "Y" cable with 1 micro USB at one end, and 2 USB-A at second ends.
One USB-A handles power while other data transfer between PC and HL driver.
Of course I have attached both of them. And it's same thing on all 6 HLs.

Thanks again!!! :)

Have a great Sunday!!! :)

But funny thing is that I can open HL devices by pressing button on them???
That only needs power to work it doesn't even need to be connected to anything else.
One USB-A handles power while other data transfer between PC and HL driver.
Of course I have attached both of them. And it's same thing on all 6 HLs.
I think both of them draw power, have you tried connecting each one to a different USB stack?

There are always several USB ports that are connected to the same controller on the mb so they share the amount of Ampere (power they can give out) ,you can try using different USB ports, that are far away from each other, to increase the chances that they don't share their power so they can give more power to the bluray.
An external powered USB would of course do the same, and better, but it's one more thing you need to have connected.

I think it's a driver problem. Have you tried to connect them to a computer with Windows 10 or 7?
Also, I have a DVD player with a Y USB cable, and it works only with one of the USB connectors, so try both of them separately one at the time.
Additionally, but at your own risk, they seem to have a Firmware update, please see link below.

@yossibac

Thanks for your interest and advice.
Man has a point there!!! It (HL BP55EB40) used to work before I upgraded Windows from 10 to 11 approximately 2 years ago.

I will install VM program and install and check on Windows 10 just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the Firmwareupdate link but it says:
"파일을 찾을 수 없습니다."
"File Not Found".

Thanks again for your input, Sir!!! :)

Hello again friends,
Thanks for waiting on me.

I have acquired 2A to 4A USB power supply and tested it with all 6 HL BP55EB40s one by one, I have change ports also but no avail.
Too bad!!! As I have had a hope for this to work. I have also tried all other advises.

I have one last possibility.
And that is to test these 6 devices one by one and altogether on Windows 10.
I need to wait for weigh until 20. July 2023. Then I will purchase VMware License and test these on VMware installed Windows 10 and maybe Windows 7 versions too.
I thank you all for your contribute and great advises!!!

There are no alternatives left.

Thanks,
Best regards,

You don't need to buy VMware if you install without a license it turns into the free version, that used to be VMplayer.
Also a VM might have the same issues recognising the drives since it will be using the same ports, and maybe the same drivers, I have no idea how it works but since the ports still work under windows 11 when you release a usb device from VM I think that it doesn't completely take over the ports.

Yes Yossibac,

They answered me only once even I have contacted them after first time asking for new drivers.
This is what they say.

First of all, we would like to express our appreciation for your purchase of our product.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the delayed response.

To clarify, did you experience any similar issues when using an operating system other than Windows 11 ?

From your description that the tray opens when you press the button, it appears that the device is receiving power correctly.

Given this information, and considering the fact that all six devices display the same symptoms, it seems quite possible that the issue you are facing is more likely related to the operating system, rather than being a problem with the device itself.

Unfortunately, in such situations, our options to assist as the device manufacturer are limited.

It deeply saddens us to know that we might not be able to provide the solution you need.

If you have any other concerns or queries regarding our product, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Best Regards

Hi,
Both yes and no.
Yes because I have primary /Host OS Windows 11 Home version 22H2.
On both (2) laptops I have installed Vmware and inside that (as a guest OS) I have installed both Windows 10 22H2 and even Windows 7 without having them work with these drives.

No because I have Host OS Windows 11, while Guest OS as Windows 10 and 7.

Thanks

Due to summer vacations I have limited access to any other machines beside these 2 laptops.
But I intend to connect these to some other machines once vacations are over and I have access to additional PCs.

Thanks

Where did you buy those Blu-rays from? Can't they help?
Just trying to understand if they are genuine and not dodgy.
I guess you have got 6 cables, and you tried all of them, yes?
Can't you go to a service shop nearby and ask them to check them for you?
However, I have a feeling that if you connect them to a friend's computer, they will work.
Maybe it's the Vmware that actually stop them from working.

When connecting these devices to your laptops, how many other USB devices do you have attached at the same time?

In spite of the previous discussions, this still feels like a power issue. Connecting an optical drive to a modern PC/laptop is about as simple as it gets, so this is indeed a baffling situation.
