Problem installing 9800 on a q8200

Hi, I just got a q8200 core2quad (with integrated graphics) and also bought an nvidia inno3d geforce 9800 1gb

I followed the instructions and took the back off and slotted the card in and plugged in the monitor but when i turned the pc back on the screen was blank and it would only work when i plugged it back into the monitor slot on the motherboard.

Any ideas?

Reseat the card. Make sure you have it correctly hooked up, there should be a 6 pin connector from your power supply that also fits to your gfx card, away from the back of your case, on the card, usually black.

Hi, I've found the 6pin slot on the card but can't find the connector from the power supply. Is it plugged into the motherboard?

Also my system is a shop bought Dell studio 540.

Is there any extra wires coming from the power supply? Thats where youll get your power from, to your card, via a 6 pin connector/hookup

There is a couple but nothing that matches the cards slots. I've got a feeling that dell didn't add this option.

Ah one of the cables that comes from the psu seems to be a "molex"? Apparently I can buy a molex to pci adaptor.

Does that sound right?

The Studio 540 comes with a 350 watt psu and was offered with the 9800 GT as an option, keep looking, you should find the 6 pin power connector.
