i bought the 8800GT 512mb and installed it, but for some reason it also installed this thing called "Splendid Video Enhancement" by Asus. i cannot find anywhere to remove it or a control panel for it.
it runs every time i watch a video on my computer or when there is a video in games, and the quality is just horrendous. the picture is blurry and sort of "patched".

has any one any idea how i can disable it? or remove it completely?

Try typeing msconfig in run and take out the service and startup for that function. Uninstall the driver that came with the card and download the 8800gt driver direct from nvidia. I know that xfx uses a special driver for one of there overclocked versions of the 8800gt, not sure about asus though check to see if the driver from asus online is the same as nvidia's. GL

Heres how to remove the annoying right click menu:

open notepad and copy paste this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ContextMenu]
@="{AA592759-B0E7-4c78-843E-79DB3D7216E8}"

Save as "remove ANNOYING ASUS bloatware.reg"

Run the file you created remove ANNOYING ASUS bloatware.reg.
Double click the file and when you see "Are you sure?" click Yes 'dammit'!

Hope this helps 😛
To restore just reinstall or run the same reg file without the minus in front of HKEY.

Best Regards
