Problem with FX 5700 Ultra

First I can begin with my speccs:

Gainward GeForce FX 5700 Ultra Ultra/960 TV-DVI Golden Sample 128 MB DDR with ForceWare 56.64
Windows XP
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
MSI KT3 Ultra-Aru KT333
512 mb DDR RAM

After I got this new card, my PC runs slower than before (Had a Gainward GeForce 4 Ti 4400 128 mb RAM). In games like NFSU I can see that the card lacks of performance. It is laggy and I have to run at the lowest resolution and on low details. And in Counter-Strike I experience FPS drops and the game does not run as good as before. The thing is that my old graphic card had much better performance on these games than the new. But the new FX 5700 U card scores higher in 3DMark than the old Ti 4400 card. What might be the problem?

Could the CPU be too slow for my new graphic-card?

There's a problem happening here if you can't get at least the performance you used to have. First off, make sure you're not running antialiassing or anistropic filtering.

In NFSU, the game might be detecting the card's DirectX 9 capability and might be setting some graphics settings higher, like motion blur. This would have a negative effect on performance, you might want to check that out.

As far as counter-strike, not sure why that'd be slower.

A 5700U isn't really a good upgrade from a 4400. It should be better, but not all that much better, and certainly not worth what you paid for it for the performance gain, especially if you overclocked the 4400.
You should go with at least a Radeon 9700 PRO/9800 or 5900XT if you can return the card and want to see a real jump...

Okay I see. I didnt really expect a big jump, but atleast a better performance or a similair one. I didnt do this trade by will. My 4400-card got artifacts and I got this 5700 U card in trade. But does any one know how to solve this problem? This does not only happen to games like NFSU and Counter-Strike, its all games that I have. Any idea?

You need to overclock the living p i s s out of that 5700Ultra...I took the memory on mine past 1.0Ghz before it burned up.

Well. I dont want to overclock my card at first. I should not have to do this to get the same performance as the older GeForce 4 ti 4400. Isnt there any other way?

Format your hard drive, reinstall everything. The card is better than the ti4400 (though not ALOT). The problem is that you're a dumbass, and obviously don't know how to install and configure [-peep-] correctly.
