Problem with HD 7870

I have a reference radeon HD 7870. It was working fine for 2 -3 days since I have purchased but suddenly after turning on my computer for 15 to 20 minutes the screen goes off and my gpu fan ramps up to full speed. It is happening with me every day I have a DVI to VGA adapter too since I am using an old monitor. How to solve that issue? Please help!!!

Hardware monitoring tab in BIOS.

I can't see anything about the PSU in the BIOS.

Most BIOS's I have worked with have shown it but then again you can use a multimeter to check for sure.

I don't have a multimeter neither my friends do.

voltage limits here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX There is some software available that will check but do not know accuracy.
