According to me system storage I am using 70.46 GB of storage. My hard drive says I'm using 98.3 GB. Anyone have any insight as to why this is?

Can you post screen shots of the 2 locations where you see those 2 numbers?

I regularly see 10 percent variations in GB used on my C partition for no obvious reason...for whatever that is worth. 47 this week; 53 the next week; 49 the next week. All with no manual cleaning.

Windows 10 and 11 do automatic cleanup every 10 days. There are no set amounts or what is deleted, it's all on FIFO (First in, First out) principles. There are Temp files as well as updates.

70.46 GB of storage in C: partition ? Windows BOOT /system drives also have up to 3 normally "invisible"partitions.
There are also different reports, amount in files and "on disk" as well as difference between GB and GiB.

Thanks for that Mike; I've noticed some different behavior in Storage Sense recently: until a month or so ago, if I avoided cleanup from Storage Sense for 10 days or so, the next cleanup from there might take 8 or 10 seconds and clean 5, 10, or 20 mb. Now it takes 1 or 2 seconds and never cleans more than 1 or 2 mb. Of course, I don't know what's going on in the background automatically.

I also run Disk Cleanup including system files every week or two. It looks like that method of cleanup has different targets than Storage Sense.

I can understand cleanup reducing mb, but I have a harder time understanding 6 or 8 GB increase in 3 or 4 days when I have not run Windows Update or installed any new programs. Might just be the way Explorer calculates. Or maybe Windows shuffling files around for its own reasons.

It's not a big deal, I have plenty of capacity. But it's peculiar.
