I have bought an Sapphire Radeon X850XT , and installed the OMEGA Drivers...
But somehow i'm getting low benchmarks with it..

ATI Tray Tools gives me 6804 points with 520/540(original) which is lower than X800XT...

And 7624 Points with 600/585 (Higher than X800XT = 7194)

Why do i have to overclock my X850XT to get BETTER than a X800XT ??
Is something wrong with it? :{
Thanks..(thats my first video card.. i'll post some pics :})

>>>>> LINK FOR MY VIDEO CARD PIC <<<

I Read some reviews that say that this card can run FEAR at 1280x1024 MAX..
But with me it "freezes" sometimes...

My mobo is
DFI UltraParty nf4 Ultra-D :{
Need some help, maybe something is wrong in my bios :}

AND AFTER OVERC.. :

PSU = OCZ PowerStream 520w( 620w peak)
CPU = Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
MEM = 2 x 512MB Kingston (2-3-2-something) .. (i think, didnt test yet)

:}
thank u

The thing is..
i just installed F.E.A.R , and something strange happened..
my FPS rate is like: 75, than jumps to 35 , 45, 102, ..
Is this normal? 😵 .. Running 1280x960 = MAX

OMEGA DRIVER = Omega 3.8.221 /
That's the lastest omega driver :} downloaded today.

That's a tough one - your system seems well on par.

Are you using AA and AF when benching, along with 1024x768 res? I doubt if this is the case, but I'm asking just in case.

FEAR will vary FPS just as in any other game - some scenes require more work than others, so seeing 70 go to 35 and 40 is quite normal - unless you are standing still in an environment/room and it jumps like that. Then I'd start worrying.

Hm.. I'm not using it :} .. I mean.. yes.. 4x Do you know any good software to run a benchmark? ;] ati tray tools is a little strange.. thanks!

The only thing that i'm worried about is that sometimes, the game "freezes", like one frame to another... dunno how to explain..
Like for 0.3 sec.. pan :}
Thanks
=x

Well ":{
Another Question for u...
The thing is..
Is there anyway to change teh PCI x"speed"?
Cause mine, i just cant.. u know, and some people say that with this gfx u can get more than 100fps.. 1280x960 MAX..
:{
Need helpp
How can i check if my PCI-E slot is really X16? (active..)

Well, 4xAA will definetely bring scores down. You should set AA and AF to application preference and test the card on 3dmark03/05. That way you will see yours compared to the X800XT. Also, the X850 really shines on higher resolution, and the chances are that it won't differ much from the X800XT on standard settings. But as soon as you increase the res and open up AA and AF you will notice the difference.

FEAR also requires 2gig ram along with a very high end CPU. Just like you, I experience momentarily pauses which boils down to cache'ing as the CPU loads data from HDD->RAM and/or Gcard RAM. You probably notice this pause as you shift view or as you enter a new room.

PCIx is running at 100mhz (x16) always - there's no scalable x2,x4,x8 as with AGP. It basically offers x amount of bandwidth, and if the card uses 1/2x then so be it, the rest is always open and available until the day gcards reach this point.

hm.. i understand now.. thank u..
i just installed doom 3, :} (ati's game)
lets see if i'll get something better :}

Are you forcing FSAA in the driver ?

Try using only 'Quality' Mipmap settings in the driver, instead of High Quality, and ensure Geometry Instancing is enabled. (Although it won't help in most tests, but will in various games).

What settings did those benchmarks use ? ('High Performance' set for MipMap / Texture in the driver would be my guess).
