what can be the cause of boot failur system halted

many many things - you need to add more detail

if its crashing going into windows:

1) drivers look at error message
2) it could be memory - memory wears and needs more voltage
3)virus or crupt windows - run a repair with dvd or cd

could be a bad boot loader - you need to repair

will not boot at all?

any piece of hardware could do this - discounted all and see if it boots into bios

it could be a virus -
