Problems changing the Vcore on my ASUS A7V266-E

My Vcore for my XP is set to 1.86V when it should be 1.75V. However, in the BIOS the lowest setting available is 1.80V and when I set it to that is remains at 1.86V. Any tips on what to do?

You must manually jumper the vcore settings to the lowest setting and then you can control
them in BIOS.

How do you achieve this? Do you have to do something similar to the pencil trick or what? Or is there a much easier way to get into jumper free mode??

I manually jumpered and it didn't work so I called ASUS. They went through what I had already done and said my power supply is messed up and I need a new one because my current power supply is giving the processor too much voltage. Thanks for the tips though

i think thats crap!
the motherboard takes the 5v line and stepps it down to 1.75 or whatever your core voltage is.
thus, this the board that really determines the final voltage.

and asus do sneaky things for extra performance.
liek setting the 133.3 fsb to 134 or 135
on my old a7v133 the default ram voltage was 3.56 instead of 3.3 and when you set the core voltage it was always 0.05v higher.

This board tends to run the voltage high when left in jumper free mode. What you have to do is set board into "jumpered" mode by moving the JEN jumper. Then, and only then, can you set the core voltage manually by moving the VID jumpers per the manual.

It's frustrating you can't do it in jumper free mode... but that's the way it is! If I were you, I'd just leave it at 1.86 volts. It should run fine there, but watch the temps.

Asus person is a little off. Look on page 21 of your manual and set the jumpers to 1.7/1.675Volts. (you only need two
jumpers for that setting. Now when you bootup go into Bios and adjust your vcore. It will give you all settings available
for the board. Make sure you have flashed the latest Bios (1007e,bin final). You also will have to set it a little lower than
1.75 as the board will up it some. (try 1.725 to start and it should be right on 1.750) If this doesn't work for you, it will be
the first I have heard of.
