Righto,

I've decided to add an additional 8gb of RAM to my computer (has 8gb already). After some quick research, it seemed that buying the exact same RAM again was the best way to go. However, when I install the new RAM it 'blue screens' and keeps rebooting. After removing the RAM the computer runs fine.

I've heard that you need to change the voltages in the BIOS settings, but there's that many different options and menus I have no idea what I'm changing! I'm not so bad at building computers but I am baffled by the BIOS settings.

Motherboard: ASUS Pro Gaming Z170
RAM: HyperX FURY 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 DIMM Memory Kit (Skylake Compatible)

Can one of you guys run me through the process?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Since you have them - start with the original set - go into BIOS and raise the DRAM voltage to 1.25 and raise the VCCIO voltage + 0.06, save, exit shutdown, add the new sticks and give it a try

Thanks man,

Just tried this and it's booted up fine. It seems to be running OK for now, I'll run some RAM heavy games and see how it goes.

Hopefully this has sorted.
