Problems with Monitors at Higher Refresh Rates?

I've heard about problems with monitors that have high refresh rates but that can't display anything below their max refresh rates for some reason?

Would someone be able to explain what these problems are and why they occur?

That's exactly why I need help. I've heard that some monitors (60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz) have weird problems when trying to display lower refresh rates,

Not too sure what you mean but I have a BenQ Xl2430T and have no problem with it when switching between the different Hz, gaming and desktop.
