Question Problems with RAM on ASUS M4A89GTD/USB3 PRO board ?

hi,i have above motherboard.have 8gb ram total 4 x 2gb
the total the motherboard will support is 16gb,so i bought four 4gb ram cards(or whatever they are called)
putthem in,and the pc wouldnt boot,monitor not comming on.
i took ram out and realised there is 3 blue slots and one black slot.
if i put 3 of the rams into the blue slots which is 12gb total the pc boots,but if i put the other back in to the black slot the pc wont boot.
what is the prob?

If you were down the street, I would grab some from my parts bin. But there is an ocean between us...

Check with a local PC shop. DDR3 memory should be "find-able" and very inexpensive.

is there any way of knowing if i shorted something?
the old ram was always working fine until i started this mess,and remember it was working fine,until i decide to try the new ram again(worst decision of the year)

Not unless you have another working system that you can swap parts into/out of in order to isolate the problem(s).

You could also try cleaning your memory electrical contacts. Like with a pencil eraser.

i actually had an old ddr 3 RAM stick from an old pc.
tried it same result

The memory controller is part of the CPU. It could be the issue.

and i need pc to boot to be able to do anything about that?

If that is the issue, then you must replace the CPU. Not really reparable otherwise.

By swapping with another. This is what I referred to earlier.

Should still be compatible in all likelihood.

nope didnt clean,i know have 2gb ram,i had 4 sticks originally 2gb each.
im going to have to try more sticks one at a time

ok,put ram stick into next slot,pc wont boot

black blu black blu is colour of slots
i had first one in extreme right black 2nd in the blue slot beside

took out that 2nd one,kept one in extreme right black slot ,and it booted
didnt do cmos,didnt do it previous time either b.t.w.

didnt boot

put 2nd stick into extreme left blue slot
so that 1 stick in extreme right black slot,2nd stick in extreme left blue slot
didnt boot

i have kept the ram stick that worked in extreme right black slot,tried another stick in the other black slot,and not booting
