Problems with router

Every time I connect the router, modem, and computer together the way it is meant to be connected using the set up process, the lights on the router flash repeatedly. The only way I could connect to the internet is by connecting my computer directly to the modem. I no longer have wireless internet due to this problem.

What type of modem? If it's a cable modem, you need to power cycle it before connecting it to the router. If it's a DSL modem, you may have an IP address conflict.

It's a dsl modem.

How could I resolve it if it's an ip address conflict?

Connect directly to the DSL modem and use ipconfig/all to find the IP address assigned by the modem. Connect to the router and do the same thing. If the IP addresses are in the same range, change the IP address of the router.
