Processor problem after moving across country

After I moved my computer the entire way across the US, my mobo won't boot (I have not had any problems since I built the system). I have a nforce2 mobo from MSI, so the LED bracket tells me that the system is hanging when I get to the processor initialization phase.

So last night I took out everything, including the processor and put it back on. It got past the processor initialization phase. Then when I went to set the computer up in my room I got the same problem again. I didn't fiddle with it more because it was late, but I will try the same thing again today. I was wondering if I might have jostled the thing a bit too much or something to make it not work while moving...I don't know.

I already tried clearing the CMOS as well.

If anyone has experiences or suggestions I would be most grateful to hear them.

Some specs:
Athlon 2200 XP (factory speeds)
nforce2 MSI mobo (the L version)
geforece 4 4200 Ti 64mb
Antec 350W power supply (230W combined)
Thermaltake Volcano 9 w/ arctic silver

Thanks for any help you can give,

Nathan

Are you bumping anything loose? see if anything could be sitting in a way to short a connection (like a case screw) and check all of your plugs. As a rule of thumb, unless I have a heatsink that bolts to my mobo, I take it off ofthe cpu, and install it when I get where I am goiing (A must for those heavy swiftech sinks)

... And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

About all you can do is go through and reseat everything (memory, video card, etc.) and then make sure everything is still plugged in (fans, jumpers, etc.) Also look for anything that might have dropped into your system during the move - a stray screw rattling around or something like that...

Good luck!

Well I took everything out one by one and tried the system. It works WITHOUT the VGA card installed- my MSI GF4 4200 Ti 64mb.

Now what would the VGA card have to do with processor initialization? The only thing I could think of is power, but my PS is more than adequate (proven by months of service). Does this mean I have a bad video card? What gives?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nathan

try reseating the processor. I know from experience that the AMD processors can get loose very easily. When i had AMD systems at least twice i had to reseat the processor and then it would boot up fine.

Life is irrelivent and irrational.

I have tried reseating the processor. It works without the Video card in the system. But when the video card is in there, it hangs up on "processor initialization." Thanks for your input.
