Processor speed

I do an intense amount of graphic work I would like a more powerful computer. I believe a dual G5 processor, in the Macintosh, is the fastest chip out there. Should I buy one of those or a athalon 64 or an SGI machine? Does anybody know where a website that has a list of CPU performance levels is?

You might want to consider a new dual Opteron system... they are getting some of the best benchmarks scores for dual CPU tasks.
The dual channel memory, low latency ondie controller and built in hypertransport make them especially good. ut with anything specific, they do cost a fair bit.
