Product Registration for your Hard drive - Is it required for Warrente

A total newby question, but I have never registered a computer component before.

So do I need to register my computer components (when I build a new pc from components, from ncix) to get the manufacturers wareentee?

Anyone know how to do that with a 2 yr old WD1001FALS drive?

Only a few companies require you to register for a lifetime warranty on top of their regular one XFX and EVGA as examples. So far I have not seen that on any HDD so you basically will not have to register until you claim warranty.
