I want to save old vhs and svhs tapes to hard drive and then to dvd. I
have win98se
and studio 8, and I have to stop and start every Gb or so. Is there a
program that works with Win98 and will divide the capture footage
automatically? I know Win XP doesn't have this problem but I'm not ready
to switch yet. Any help will be appreciated.

AVI_IO. If that doesn't recognize your capture device, then try Ulead
DVD Movie Factory (I've used version 2 of that under Win98SE, and it
split captures automatically).

IIRC, the problem here is with the OS; it just won't support really
big files like XP with NTFS does.
I think if you upgrade to XP you'll find it works the way you want.

I use Scenalyzer Live (http://scenalyzer.com/main.html). It works great for
capturing long videos and automatically separating it into segments (I keep
mine under 2 gig).

I used to use AVI_IO, but I find Scenalyzer works better.

It will also do time lapse captures if you ever need to do that.

Take care,

Agreed. I LOVE that program. Absolutely LOVE it. :)

I use Studeo 8 with win98se and I can fill the hd. The program does split
the capture in seperate 2gig bits but they can be combined on the timeline.
There is just so much that can fit on a disk though. I sometimes make tape
after editing and sofar the size of the hd seems to be the limiting factor.
