Program to Convert .avi to .vob (DVD)

Hey all,

I'm looking for a good program, preferably free, to convert .avi files to DVD format so I can burn them on a blank dvd and then play them on my dvd player.

Any and all suggestions welcome, thanks in advance.

So here's a thought, I went to google and entered 'avi to vob' and got 1,330,000 English pages for avi to vob. And then I went to Yahoo and entered the same thing and got.... 'about 3,310,000 for avi to vob' but I have google limited to only look at english pages...

After a little, I thought my answer may not have been very fair so I added 'vista' to both queries. I got 'about 461,000 for avi to vob vista' from Yahoo and 'about 806,000 English pages for avi to vob vista' from google. That should help cut your problem down a lot!

here's a thought, the OP may already know about these amazing inventions called 'search engines' but wanted real people to give him advice about a program instead of using sh*tty shareware which riddles his comp with spyware and doesn't help him at all.

Apart from Nero which will do a proper dvd-burn, i can't think of any others.

I can't offer an app that I've used because I usually go in the opposite direction, however try sourceforge.net. They usually have these types of freeware tools.

Sorry for my curt reply... I am using two packages (aside from the built in dvd stuff) that mostly work well for managing all of my dvd work in Vista 64, they are: Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 from www.roxio.com and the complete suite of files from www.slysoft.com.

I am a little pissed at roxio software because it wants to run a lot of services and do everything, without asking but it does work in Vista (it takes a little effort to tone it down). I am also very happy with the slysoft software, it does what is says it can and does it very well (highly recommended).

The one i sugest you is WinAVI, ( not free tought ) take me 15min to transfers a Divx, Xvid to DVD in 15 min. There is also Nero Vision but it take me 50 min to do the same job. If you want to Convert DVD to Divx/Xvid use FairUse Wizard 2 ( Free but only max 700mb files ) I was supprise that i convert a DVD ( from dvd decrypter in Iso ) then Fairuse did the rest in 50min to put it in Divx High Quality with the best quality sound in my opinion i saw in a 700mb files. Those software work really good with x64 vista and normal vista i guess.
