Honestly, I don't think you can. I assume you are not using the board and that is why you want to cover the socket. Instead, get some paper, cut to size and then anchor using the socket lock.

Its that damn "protective" cap that causes all the damage when people try to put it back on. AFter all, it sez "remove and keep" leading you to believe you are supposed to put it back on when cpu is removed. I wrecked TWO boards that way.
