Has anyone replaced the thermal pads on a ps4?

I am about to as my ps4 cooler sounds like a jet engine on steroids. It needs all the dust thoroughly cleaned out. However, the stock pads are 1mm thick and the GC extreme pads I have are 0.5mm. I dont want to pull it all apart if those aren't going to make sufficient contact, I'd rather wait until new ones arrive and have use of the ps4 in the meantime.

Has anyone done this and can confirm the 0.5mm is suitable?

You might need to be cautious as sometimes, these systems have their coolers designed to use specific thickness of thermal pads. By going with a thinner pad or even thermal paste, you create an offset to where the cooler doesn't make contact with the surface correctly and then could cause overheating. If you are going to attempt this, make sure you test-seat the cooler with the new pads just to make certain that it makes good contact.

I used Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8 :)
The measurements for the pads are 9x9mm squares but there is room for 10x10mm squares and they should be 1mm thick or the PS4 will overheat from them being too thin or not switch on as they are too thick and theres not enough pressure on the APU

Heres a video of me doing it:
