Question PS4 through HDMI VGA Adapter to Dell E217H not working

If I plug in my ps4 through a HDMI VGA adapter to my computer it doesn't work. when I turn on the monitor and put it to VGA it just says Dell E217H Entering Power Save Mode, I don't know what else to say except please help.

Have you tried lowering the resolution before plugging into vga?
